i'm looking to make some cash on the side on ebay, but i'm not quite sure what i can hustle. i see millions of other people doin it so i'm sure its possible... advice, anyone??
Concert Ticket sales are usauly a good profit margin, but you have to join some clubs or just get lucky with ticketbastard to get the good seats, then resell them. If you want to wholesale something, you need to find a niche market that doesnt have 1000 other sellers. You can also sell things that you make, or collectables.
Every year, I buy like a $30 ticket to Dave Matthews, and something always happens that I can't go, but then I make so much selling it on ebay! Kids will do anything for Dave. I sold a $28 ticket for $120 last year. It was awesome. I bought myself a Guster ticket and some damn drugs. I would love to see Guster again, but I don't want to see Dave anymore....so I guess they'll have to play on without me. I do a lot of shit on ebay, though. If you know what you're doing, you can make a good profit. It takes practice. They have some pretty good message boards where people give lots of helpful advice. Utilize them!! Good luck!
i've been searching high and low for sites that sell things in bulk for really cheap, with no results
What kinds of things? I've even bought some wholesale stuff on ebay, then turned around and sold all the stuff individually a few weeks later and made a profit. I didn't set out to do that, but I ended up not needing the stuff I bought, but I didn't want to let it go because I'm a packrat, so I sold it off little by little.Hit some yard sales and find some stuff. That's what so many people do on there, and they make a career of it! You can even personalize stuff.... my ex and I found a really neat but banged up old chair at a garage sale. He just painted some crazy design on it with this crackly paint and called it folk art, and we sold it for $60....we had only paid $3 for it, plus $10 for the paint. It was beautiful!
I sold 9 old Elvis 45's I bought at yard sales for next to nothing (about 25 cents to 50 cents each) for 25.00 on ebay, and I was very honest about them..some were scratched and I listed them and told that I have no turntable but I can see scratches on them and they still went. Sold James Brown..10 45's for 16.00 some scratched. I got these at a thrift shop for 1.00 for the whole bunch. Yard sales are good because now the thrift stores are all getting hip to the prices this stuff goes for on ebay. Gosh Alex, wish the BIG Goodwill was stil over on Brambelton Ave. That was THE place man, then they moved over ther to Princess Ann and thought they were a damn department store, prices went up... There are still some good ones at the beach, but prices may be going up over there too. Hit the yard sales and if you have a ride (truck or station wagon) go over to Ghent and around the college, very early morning on trash days, alot of cool stuff gets thrown out by those ODU students who are always moving, you wouldn't believe some of the stuff I found on the curb. Good luck, teepi
Software and electronics is good stuff too. Even if something dosen't work, list it "as is" or "as shown," most people don't read the entire description so you can be honest and still get bids. I sold a bunch of my PS2 and Xbox games too, but the demand for those is highest around Christmas.
Underwear. Seriously there are ppl out there who will pay alot of money for any kind of used underwear just find a hot chick whos willing to let you photograph her wearing them put it on ebay then they'll be gone in minutes. You dont even have to include her face in the photo as long as she has a nice body.
What is the difference between someone selling tickets on ebay for a profit and a scalper? Scalping tikets is illegal right?
It's not illegal everywhere. It isn't in Tennessee. I think they have tickets under "questionable items" in the rule place....but it depends on where you live.
We mostly sell clothing / purses on eBay. If you know what to look for (it can take many hours of browsing to get a really good feel for it) you can make quite a bit of money. And old quilts seem to go well, too. My mom is an eBay NUT. She's insane about it.
