I think its like a fine up to an ounce and after that you can get jail sentances except the police around here dont waste their time chasing stoners, which is the main difference.
oh but thats just NSW in canberra the laws are much more lax, allowing you to grow two plants up to a metre tall and thats our parlimentry capital
a fine and possible education session if a repeated offence for 30 grams or less and fine for up to 2 plants in WA. oh and the cops always say its $100 for each bong when they catch me and my mate but they never get us to pay for them. the last time we were busted we had five bongs in the car and a few grams of weed and all my mate got was a $100 fine and i got nothing cos i was only 17 then!
it is weve just got a govt that is degrading our country at the moment, and getting away with it since their opposition isnt much better (though i hold that much better is still better at all)
