I was smoking my pipe today, when I noticed how much resin was in my pipe. Then i started to think, "that stuff is what is in my lungs" I started thinking about how much pot I've smoked over the years and I'm really curious. Are my lungs like that, and is it permanent? Just wondering, if anybody knows an answer. Have a beautiful day
I thought the same thing when looking at my pipe once too. I think its only permanent if you keep smoking. Taking a break for a week every now and then is a good idea.
I think your lungs do get tainted to some degree but not as drasticaly as the bowl of the pipe. I dunno no worries
if you quit smoking, it will take the lungs many years to clean themselves out. but, they can do wonders in 10 years or even less.
I'm not trying to start any arguements but I'm almost positive it takes much less time than a matter of years for your'e lungs to clear up. Ask people who take a simple month or 2 month break, they have better a much better capacity and they will tell you that they just feel like they have fresher breathes of air.
not really. here's the deal. all the cells lining your throat and bronchial tubes have ways to deal with it. Mostly, little cell-hairs called cillia, and mucus. The mucus captures the tar, and the cillia beath rhythmically to move the mucus up and out of the lungs to the throat, where you swallow it. Tobacco smoke tends to constrict the airways, impeding this process (and also, it is radioactive and has lots of particulates that lodge in the lungs), but cannabis smoke isn't so particulate loaded, and the THC actually OPENS the airways (people with asthma use marijuana, I hear, as their number one medication. could just be a rumor, but it IS widely used). If you smoke tons, its not going to be good for your lungs, but if you smoke moderately (once or twice a week) it isn't THAT bad (it does have an impact, though)
It shouldn't be bad at all, trippin'. Once or twice a week over the course of like 10 years would be hardly noticable, due to what you said. A daily toker would feel greater effects after 10 years, but it would be nothing compared to a tobacco smoker after 10 years. Even if one joint has as much tar as 4 cigs, you would have to smoke four joints a day to equal one pack of cigs. Four joints daily. I smoke four joints in a WEEK. There are tobacco smokers who go though two, even three packs daily.
yeh see your piece doesnt keep sleaning itself out, another thing is that ALL the smoke you breath in passes through the relatively TINY tube in your piece, whereas when it gets in your lungs, its dispersed across a very large surface area
Well, I won't go as far as to say "it shouldn't be bad at all" since it is, after all, smoke you're inhaling (hot gasses don't belong in lungs), I do agree that the body is remarkable and can heal, and that marijuana smoke is definitely safer than tobacco smoke I'll also add that it's not true that a joint has as much tar as 4 cigs. That's based on some government study that made joints out of the cannabis leaves. Buds have much less tar in them. So unless you're smoking absolute garbage weed, that statistic is false.
i completely agree with you.... i quit smoking cigs for about 7 weeks now and i barely get winded as much as i use to... i noticed the increase in energy within days of quitting... it was a great releif... and i can feel that it has made my body better.... but yea... 10 years seems just a little steep... if anything i'd say maybe 2-5years... seeing how much i can already notice my body changing from my lack of cigarettes... and i smoked for 10years
According to NORML, pot smoke DOES NOT give you lung cancer. It may even help protect against it. http://www.mapinc.org/norml/v05/n1065/a03.htm?134
I ahve asthma, I don't use weed to help with my asthma. in fact I think if might be amking it a tad worse. i've been coughing a lot more lately, but it might just be the lung butter irritating my throat, I might have a cold, and it might be the smog.
i notice after last week i smoked everyday by the last day i was coughing more and my chest was getting tighter i didnt smoke for three days and it cleared up i smoked today and yesterday and it was like i didnt smoke at all last week, dont smoke every day or all day and keep active and you will be fine
