Music and Poetry in Albany Tonight

Albany Poets Presents is a brand new event series for poetry, spoken word, music, art, and more. Each month we will be featuring artists from the Albany area and beyond in order to support the arts. Albany Poets Presents brings a new formula to the arts community as it will not stick to the "open mic + feature" format. Each month will see something different.

Albany Poets Presents takes place on the first Tuesday of each month at Valentines, 17 New Scotland Ave, Albany. Doors open at 7:00PM, the show starts at 8:00PM. Admission is based on donation.

The first edition of Albany Poets Presents (July 5, 2005) will be a special night of poetry and music to benefit the Lisa Schroeder-Rand Memorial Fund. Lisa was a local mother of four who drowned attempting to save two children from the Schoharie Creek. The Memorial Fund has been set up to assist the family in funeral costs as well as helping her four children.

Performers for this special event are Dan Wilcox, Emily Gonzalez, A.C. Everson and Friends, Jared Funari, Jonathan Krakat, Thomas McWatters with John Brodeur, and more.
