I have heard that i have been rocking to the wrong bands and i want to nop what true hippies lisin to. I Rock to: Greenday, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Guns 'n' Roses, things like that.
uh, not sure, but i don't think hippies are usually big ozzy/sabbath fans. how about hendrix or the doors.
I hope this is a joke! Listen to music you like, and not stuff you 'should' like, that is the best thing to do! But a few artists popular among Hippies are Yes, Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin, The Strawbs etc
I was partially joking because i think its funny to ask what "hippies" rock out to. obviously this is personal preference. but i was partially serious because i assumed the question was asking what kind of 'harder rock' 'hippies' typically enjoy. I've never been to Ozzfest, and I'm not a Sabbath fan, although I am familier with some of their material, but I have a hard time seeing the typical 'hippy' banging their head at Ozzfest or pleading for a Sabbath reunion. meanwhile, I closely associate hippiness/psychedelia/etc with rock outfits such as the Doors or Hendrix or even Zeppelin. having come into contact with many people who like many types of music and who display themselves in various lights, there is an obvious correlation between the two. one of my easier conclusions to make is that most people that i would consider 'hippie-ish' will not be attending the next ozzy show.
Music is probably the most important thing in my life. I jam to Iron Maiden, Jimi Hendrix, Sabbath, Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Deep Purple, and Pink Floyd and stuff. I also like to listen to Iron Butterfly, the Doors, Aerosmith, Blue Oyster Cult, KISS, the Beatles, and a whole lot more. My CD collection's got everything from AC/DC and Iron Butterfly to White Zombie and In Flames. I prefer the 'happy music' but there are some heavier bands that are fun to rock out to. music is your friend.
just add more music: the hip trip is about expanding your limitations. And Mountains of Venus (a bar-level jamband) pulls off an amazing War Pigs.
I agree with you completely, but on the other hand, it wouldn't hurt to give some of those bands a listen. You know, try new things.
There are the obvious bands of which only a couple have been mentioned so far, hendrix, pink floyd, the doors... the whole sixties psychedelia movement really, but there are some great new bands out there to, that are worth a quick nibble if nothing more, i've been listening to bright eyes, the mountain goats and http://www.boardsofcanada.com/ but as has already been advised, listen to whatever you want bro... sabbath and zepplin kick ass, as do greenday and the other bands you mentioned, peace.
yeah my sister listens to bright eyes. they're not very good musicians but they have some great lyrics
You have a point, but I think the bands at Ozzfest and Ozzy's shows nowdays has a totally different atmosphere and crowd than Black Sabbath had in their music and shows.
Yeah Sabbath seems more mainstream now. Their music hasn't changed but they share the cover of magazines with Slipknot and Metallica. For what reason, I don't know. I went to 2 Ozzfests and I'm going to this year's strictly for Maiden and Sabbath.
Are Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath gonna play at Ozzfest? Damn, I thought it was a stupid nu metal festival. I saw Sabbath a few weeks ago at a dutch festival, though. They still rock.
