How much does breaking it up help?

Why is it that breaking it up into little bits always seems to make it so much better? I know that this is the way to go, but I was wondering if there is any scientific reasoning behind it. Or, does anyone find that breaking it up a lot does not give the best results?

 

u break it up to get seeds and stems out

 

it creates a larger surface area for the flame to hit. breaking it up exposes otherwise inaccessable green to the flame..

also if u dont break it up it can cut a hole in the paper or blunt wrap, and that sucks when u have it rolled perfect and there is a hole in it from a stem.

 

The only time i dont break it up is when i smoke from a bowl and the bud is small enough

 

it's all about AIR FLOW. it's hard and stupid to try to smoke through dense nugget.

I used to not break up bud before I lost my piece. The hole was too big and shake would just fall down into the chamber.

everyone in perth chops theirs up with scissors so its finely chopped. to me its so much better smoking finely chopped weed. its also alot easier to smoke

 

yeh the way we smoke in australia is a bit different, and we require the hits to be burnt up as quickly as possible, so that all the weed in the piece gets burnt in the one hit.

whats why we cut it up.

think about it dude, you could either have the flame hit the bud, or teh flame heat up the surrounding bud until its hot enough to burn the inside of the bud, and then hot enough to get the smoke to go right into the piece and not just burn

Whats all this about? I've never heard about that.

I like the bud to be broken up, but i dont care much about it being totally grinded.

 

the way I do it is i pick the good peices from the stem and then slice it up very fine with a razor blade. do all this on top of a small peice of paper so its easy to transfer into the slide of my bong.

i chop it up but not too fine, im too lazy. some people i know chop it till its like powder, i just chop it so the weed isnot in chunks.
you know a chunk when you see it
