Has anybody here ever played a Theremin?

    Hey guys i'm looking into getting a theremin and am just wondering if anybody here has played one and if so, did you like it? Cheers.

    i haven't, but I've seen one played. One hand controls the pitch and the other hand pulls out the signal....something like that. A theremin type instrument was used on the song 'Good Vibrations ' by the Beach Boys. I think Jimmy Page used one w/ Led Zep also on that great solo from 'Whole Lotta Love,....so I've been told.
    go for it. not many people play one. you'd have to learn how it operates as you'd have to repair or improve it yourself!

    Theremins were forerunners to Synthesizers- & Dr.Moog began with a mail-order Theremin in the 1950s.


    As stated the wave-pattern is modulated by waving your hand between the electro-magetic signals.

    They were widely used as 'atmospheric sound-effects' in early Sci-Fi Movies.
