So a little bit ago... i participated in a little bit of drinking and happened to get a violation for underage consumption and underage transporting of alcohol. I'm just kind of curious with past experiences, what is a normal punishment by the law?? This is my first offence.
well i've never heard of underage transportation of alcohol. But where i live underage consumption is called Minor In Possession and i geuss the fine depends on your past criminal record.. But i think the fine is aroud 250-400
I have no idea.. If i were you i would be more worried about what my parents would do to me, rather than the police..hehe, but thats just me.. But you're in indy and cops in indy are horrid..
Don't people busted for underage drinking normally lose their drivers license for some period of time?
when me and my friends first got our licenses, we finally had the freedom to travel and go drinking somewhere. we got pulled over once before we started to drink, so we tried to bullshit and say that the two 30 packs were for our parents. yea, they popo didn't buy that. but since they weren't opened, they just conviscated them. nothing else happened. but we were pretty pissed off that night. worst case scenario that night - all of would have suspended licenses for 30 days. community service and AA possibly. Maybe a fine for the driver. so we got off pretty lightly from the popo.
haha yeah.. my parents definitly weren't too cool with it... but i already got that punishment. I was just curious what else was going to happen, i guess i'll just have to wait and see.
its interesting...over where i live underage drinking might as well be legal. alcahol is more available to kids than R rated movie tickets. the police dont care either. every friday you see kids around downtown as young as twelve getting shit-faced with their friends. its annoying.
When I was 20, I got arrested for drinking and driving. My breathalizor test was below the legal limit, but since I was underage, it was an automatic DUI. I had to go to court, was sentenced 30 days of jail, 27 days suspended, and the last 3 were to be spent at a 72 hour alcohol/drug treatment thing. The fine was $650, plus court costs, plus the 72 hour intervention was $350. I also had my license suspended for 6 months, and once my insurance company found out, I was dropped by them, and had to find a new insurance company. Insurance is more expensive one you have a DUI on your record. I was on probation for 3 months, where I had to visit a probation officer once every two weeks.
man, that's a damn shame. Sounds like i have some stuff to look forward to in the next week. Thanks for your help.
lol sounds like my town, dont think u can get done for underage drinking here tho, never heard of it happening, woohooo!
It's so amazing...my family is German, and underaged drinking in Germany is 15. I visited when I was 16, and I could go into a bar and order a beer. The reason kids get into so much trouble with it here, is because they are told that it is "bad". If it were more accepted, less people would get DUIs, or other alcohol-related incidents.
Hah, i was doing some underage drinking last night. In England can't you buy wine and beer when your in a restaurant when your like 16? I woulda been ordering like a salad and like 9 glasses of wine.
i seriously doubt that letting 16 year olds drink legally would make the rate of alcohol related accidents and DUIs go down. why do you think its not accepted? underage drinking isnt acceptable to most parents because its against the law! its very socially acceptable to drink once you turn 21. i personally think the drinking laws here in america are fine as they are.
I have no probelm with underage drinking, I do some myself. As long as you are responsible, and do it with someone of age, and are not going to get caught, it's all good! Most importantly, don't drive! LOL...I had to edit because I typed don't drink--instead of don't drive. I've had a few beers and some liqour myself tonight.
Have to agree with you here. Unfortunately, we in America have got to let go of our hang-ups on such issues. Before prohibition in 1920 we didn't have as many of these kinds of problems. The laws that followed after prohibition was rescinded did little to try solving any problems associated with drinking.
