Mountains of Venus Tanya Shylock is amazing. She can croon, goe blues then belt out War Pigs in a way that reminds you, "hey that IS a good song with good things to say!" Indigo Girls Sweet Honey in the Rock Rita Marley
I was gonna say "none" until someone mentioned Janis. OK Janis gets my vote. I'm sorry, but hearing "Bomber" with Motorhead but sung by the lead for Girlschool - if they'd done the inverse - taken the BAND Girlschool and had Lemmy gravel over it it'd have been H4rDc0r3. No matter how k3wl and 4lt3rn4t1v3 the woman is she still will sound like Tia Carrere in Wayne's World. Unless you're Sarah McLachlan, but that's acoustic folk stuff not rock. She is an excellent musician and I dig her stuff but that ain't rawk.
Janis & Big Brother Sandy Denny & Fairport Convention - a heavenly voice Billie Holiday & Benny Goodman OR Count Basie Signe Anderson & Jefferson Airplane - JA's original female voice Chrissy Hynde & the Pretenders- she was a student at Kent state as well Koko Taylors Blues Machine Dead Can Dance Ike & Tina Turners Blues Revue my group has a female singer too, www.southerncomfortbluesband.com

The horrorpops Garbage Evanescence (They're very commercial rock, but Amy Lee has a gorgeous voice.) Felix Da Housecat It's my opinion that bands with female vocalists usually suck. Some examples: Otep Arch Enemy Kittie
