For the last few months my periods have been practically non-existant. Now, I usually only have about 9 a year, but for the last 4 months maybe, I'll have barely any 'blood' released. I haven't even had to wear a pad or tampon... if that helps you picture how little blood there is. Soooo.... what the hell is wrong with me?
maybe go see a doc, and let check up your hormones. Generally, you really should see a doc about it. a cycle should be no longer then about 35 days, and at your age ist should be regular too, and you should bleed about 5 +/- 1 days.
I would see a doctor. Are you on any type of hormonal birth control or even an IUD with a coating? Have you lost a lot of weight lately? New diet, anything different about your body besides the lack of a period? You could be having anovulatory periods, and you may want to be fertile one day (or you could be fertile and have a hard time with the menstrual part of the cycle) a doc can do tests to find out why. I hope you get an answer.
Well I was under a lot of stress spring quarter of school, but stress hasn't ever really done this before, so I ruled that out. I've lost about 15 pounds in the last month and my diet has slightly changed. I had my hormones tested about a year ago, do you think they'd have changed that quickly?
Stress can mess with your hormones totally. my period dissapeared this month probably due to stress, and allways has been affected by it., but you may have underlying problems, so go to the docs and get checked out hun.xxx
When I was in high school, during the school year I'd always run from 15-75 days and it would be really light. If you do any sports or like other people said, stress, it can affect your cycle alot. When I was 16 my doc put me on BC because that was the only way to regulate my hormones.
15 pounds is still a lot... definetly enough to cause her to miss a period, especially since they weren't all that regular to begin with. As Maggie said, all sorts of things can cause you to miss a period. What was your body weight to begin with? If you were 5'6 and 125 lbs, and you lost 15 lbs, that is a HUGE weight lose for your size. If your body drops below a certain percentage of body fat, you will "lose" your period because your body doesn't have enough fat to healthly carry a baby. This happens to a lot of serious female athletes. One of my friends is having a huge problem carrying to term because of the crazy workouts and purges she did in her youth. Get it checked out. I am not saying the weight loss is the cause, but it might be a contributing factor.
Oh trust me, my ass has enough fat to do with another few months like that. I didn't actually try to lose the weight, it just happened. I've either not had time to eat, or when I do eat, I can only consume about a cup of food before I feel sickly full. I think I'll wait one more month and see what happens. I don't really like the concept of birth control (not for moral purposes, but biological) but if that means I can have babies, then perhaps it is worth it.
This may be a stupid question, ok it is, but is there a chance you could be pregnant? would explain the only wanting small meals thing as well as the absence of period..
I didn't get my period for 10 months, and then just a week ago, I got mine... My period's pretty much always been really fucked up. Once I didn't get it for 11 months, 8 months, 6 months, etc. If you're usually pretty normal, then it's probably something like stress or a change in diet that's messing you up. If you're really that worried about it, see a doctor.
It sounds like a mixture on what's going on in your life/stress, weight loss, worrying about the missed period (worrying always makes it worse) and diet. What sort of food do you eat? Best of Luck, Sunny xxx
See a doc. It could be a block in a felopian tube which in turn would not allow your uterin lining to shed.
I eat normal foods, I think. My diet mostly consists of vegetables and grains, but I also eat meat, some dairy and fruits. I almost never eat breakfast, if I work late at school I may eat a fruit cup around 2pm, then have dinner around 6pm or 7pm. If I don't stay late at school I may eat a light lunch (a sandwich and vegies) and then dinner. But at a single sitting I usually can't physically consume more than about a cup of food. On top of that, my body doesn't really get hungry until late afternoon, it's strange. In a single day I may consume about 2-3 cups of food.
Like everyone else said stress/weight loss could definitely contribute. The same thing happened to me for half a year, and I never really got an answer why. My friend's mom missed hers for two years, and then it suddenly came back. So you're not alone. I'd go to the doctor, just to have them check.
Look up poly-cystic ovarian syndrome on the net and check out the symptoms, if you see a doc, ask her or him about that.
