i do it too! I have a sketch book that I've had for the past 5 yrs. I have tons of drawings and notes n' stuff.
i draw mine out as well, sometimes i end up altering it a little but, but do sketch mine out, i have a notebook that i do it all in.....so no you arent the onlu uber sewing nerd freak here
I draw out the designs and make notes as well. It's kind of fun to look at all the sketches/notes after making the finished piece.
I don't think you are the only one hehe! When my friend sewed she drew out everything (she's hurt her arm at the moment so no sewing for her!). It depends on what I'm doing though, I mean if I already have like a t shirt or something and I'm just customizing it like chopping bits off, adding sections on, then I don't draw out any ideas. But if I'm starting from scratch like when I made my prom dress last year with just a big chunk of material, then I do draw it out
I'm better at going with the images and instructions in my head. I have difficulty drawing out the design onto paper and end up confusing myself.
I have four notebooks full of sketches and measurements... I am kinda anal about having everything set before buying fabric. There is nothing worse than being 1 1/2 inches short of enough fabric.
yeah, i have sketches/measurements, rough ideas, etc. i need to do that first so i have a goal that im reaching for otherwise everything is jumbled and can end up weird.
I sketch out my designs,too. I sketch out the designs and if I get a good idea,I'll draw it in for later. Mark the measurements I want...and I bought a huge box of crayons so I can work out the color scheme to some designs,then I go through my fabric later and find similar fabrics to match the color scheme I want. It works best for me,I need to get my ideas down before I forget them.
When i draw or paint, usually i just do it and it comes to me as i go. I find if i think about a desgin too much it isn't as good. Besides from that though, i do have the odd book or two lying around as well as pieces of paper with writings and drawings, sketches on them. I like to keep a copy of all i create, have a place for it all which is like a catalogue i guess One of the best things we can be is creative.
