my amazing, awesome kitty..won't let me sleep tonight...

i LOOOOVE my kitty, sofie. she is the most amazing, interesting, intelligent, quirky cats i've ever known...she is such a character! but recently my fiance' has gone to working midnights, so while i'm sleeping she has nothing to do because he's at work. she's only a year old, and she's a maine coon, so she hates being alone for too long without someone to play with, AND she's a big talker. i have been able to sleep MAYBE two hours tonight. my fiance' doesn't get back til 6 am, and i wanted to sleep til 10, as i have to work from 1:30 to 9:30 tonight. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

i would just shut my bedroom door and have a fan on, but in this crappy ass apartment (which we're moving from soon thank GOD) has poor air circulation to the bedrooms, so my room gets no air coming thru the vent and it's hotter than under satan's ballsack right now. so if i shut her out, i get no ventilation and i burn up. so i'm pretty screwed.

anyone else had this issue with a young kitty before? how do you cope? i can't let her go outside as this is a pretty dangerous neighborhood...plus i would prefer her to stay an indoor kitty. i know she just wants to play, but it's like 5 in the morning and i just want to sleep! ahhhhhhhhhhhh! somebody help me cause i'm gonna go crazy...

i really do love her to pieces, though...i mean, how could you not love THIS:

 

heres the thing. catnip. time it out that you give her catnip 45 minutes before you want to go to sleep. it will put her out cold after she gets all high and stuff

 

I know it's hard, but just try to completey ignore her whatever she does. It's kind of the same as when dogs want attention and will continue whatever behaviour problem they have because you give them attention, even if it's telling them off it's attention.

That sounds like an interesting suggestion about catnip... may be you could try both these ideas? In my experience ignoring animals when they are being a pain and praising them and showing them love when they're being good, has always been the simplest and most effective way.

she's gotten better now that she's used to dario being gone during the nights...it just took an adjustment period...actually catnip makes her more hyperactive and talkative, so that wouldn't be a good thing to feed her to get her to calm down hehe. yeah, it's better now.
