    really.
i know i'm young and all, but you guys are so interesting.
    i read some amazing stories.
i wish i could live in the 60's-70's!
and, i wish everyone could be like you guys.

i'm actually doing a research on hippies.
what can you tell me about old times?
what motivated to think the way you do and believe what you believe in?
do you think that the world shouldn't have changed the way it did?
i could really use your answers! thank you <3

oh, and i need your advice -
i live in Israel, and over here we have to enlist, cause there's an on going war.
i don't want to enlist - i don't believe in war, and think i can do better things with my time and life.
thing is, refusing to enlist can cause VERY tough social sanctions.
plus, that'll be "refusing an order", which i can go to jail for and that would ruin my future in college.
so, what everyone here thinks -
should i refuse an order and accept the risks involved, OR should i enlist anyway and try to do something useful in some way?
    tough one.
i can fake mental illness, lol.
    :\ :S :p

well, thank you for being wonderful <3 PEACE!

Hi Peaceful. I don't believe in war either and here in the US , there was a time when you had to register for what we call a DRAFT> Unless you were called to duty, you didn't have to enlist. It's also a freedom of ours to make a decision if we wanna enlist or not. I did back in the early "80's, I joined the Navy. Had alot of fun and saw alot of places. But I did it because I wanted too. I feel that it should be a choice. I agree with what was said earlier to you, Move somewhere where you don't have too if you don't want to. You shouldn't have to fight if you don't wanna. But if you believe in the cause, then by all means, give it all your heart. You may end up makin a difference no matter how big or small. You still contributed a part of yourself. It gave me a great feeling, granted, we weren't at war then. Now, I'm too old to enlist. YEAH:D

You could try a foreign exchange program? Where the student finds a host family and attends school there? Do they have those where you are?

well, i guess the war in Israel is to make the arabs stop doing what they're doing.
but you know...fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity :p [i love this one!].
    complete opposits.
i'm not sure what to do...and i WISH i could move to US or Canada...
    i don't have money though :[

and we don't have foreign exchange program :[
    i wish we had, lol!
and even if there is one, it's probably for A+ students.
i'm not much of an A+ kid :\ lol.

thank you all for trying to help <3 peace :]

It's almost imposible to get out of military service in Israel. I got out of it after 7 years of nagotiations with the army, and a lot of reading, writting, and research. I finally found a law that applied to me and couple get me out of the army, and used it to my advantage.

Theoretically, if you do not live in Israel since you are 12, and don't come back for over a month per year, you don't have to go to the army.

Try Canada, New Zealand or Sweden. Your political views might also be radical enough that the government concludes that trying to induct you into the military would cause more problems than they want to deal with. Be outspoken!

    Good luck.

move into a tipi & live off the land deep in the forressyts..no address means nowhere to find you
    yea..dumb suggestion i know but its ager 5 am & i'm tired
perhaps theres many others who beleivein peace there also & in your school you can form a sort of club to examine the choices & possibilities f enough youth get involved & seek a solution to peace perhaps you can accomplish what the polititians cant.. buyt even if not your veiws may beconcidered undesirable by thosewho think war is the peaceful solution
forgive the typos & fuzzy logic

She's not a girl who misses much
Do do do do do do- oh yea!
She's well acquainted with the touch of the velvet hand
Like a lizard on a window pane

The man in the crowd with the multicoloured mirrors
    On his hobnail boots
Lying with his eyes while his hands are busy
    Working overtime
A soap impression of his wife which he ate
And donated to the National Trust

I need a fix 'cause I'm going down
Down to the bits that I left uptown
I need a fix cause I'm going down
    Mother Superior jump the gun
    Mother Superior jump the gun
    Mother Superior jump the gun
    Mother Superior jump the gun

    Happiness is a warm gun
Happiness is a warm gun, momma
When I hold you in my arms
And I feel my finger on your trigger
I know nobody can do me no harm
Because happiness is a warm gun, momma
    Happiness is a warm gun
    -Yes it is.
Happiness is a warm, yes it is...
    Gun!
Well don't ya know that happiness is a warm gun, momma?

Sorry to hear that-I did not know they drafted women-why? Not enough guys?-To put that burden on people your age is terrible-your still a kid-and haven't even finished school!-Wow-Would your parents help you?-You need a lawyer who specializes in keeping people from the draft-thats how I was able not have to go to Viet Nam-A lawyer can tell you all your options-maybe finish school in another country. What do all the other young people do to keep from going in?-Is there a group that you can contact for help?-First thing is to get your parents support-Do not run away-there is better solution I'm sure-Good luck-

    that could be useful.

anyway, i'm still not too sure.
i found out about this cool job though - there are volunteers from US, UK, Canada and other places in the world that come to Israel, get a free tour [i think it's free] and stuff.
i can be their tour guide! :]
i think it'll be pretty awesome, we'll have our own buss and i can show them around.
i mean, i could enlist and take that job.

and if i'm not happy, i've got plenty of phisical defects to get me outta there, lol :]
[the army doesn't deal with people who have mental illness or phisical defects, they just let them go or whatever].
