So now here we go,, leavin in the am,, an the truth lies ahead.. but i must admit this raised my spirits a bit... Hello, I am posting this message from the Richwood,WV public library. Ok I don't have a lot of time so here is the bullet points: Tried going to the gathering at "Barton Knob" on saturday night. Around 15 to 20 people there, ok site, NO SWIMMING HOLE that i saw. It is the same as the "strip mine" site that i saw. Its a very hard ride up about 8 miles of unpaved, rocky road. Some dude lost his whole muffler system and front bumper. Moved to Cranberry glades Sunday. Beautiful location. Law enforcement presence on the perimeter roads only, and they are friendly. No dogs or guns. Have had some awesomely good food (and I'm picky). Water system is very effective, has bottled water quality. Plenty of room to camp. Gorgeous 2-level forest with ferny lush forest floor, and shade tree canopy about 60 feet up, Mostly hardwood forest. Wowwwww.. pretty The worst vibes are coming from the over abundance of large pit bull dogs which seem to be a popular choice with many campers. they scare me and I dont think they are a peace loving pet. Be aware if you are considering bringing a large dog, I have seen some fights and belligerent pet owners. bah The nightly drum circle features a huge pit fire and (wahooo) gorgeous dancing girls, with mystic rhythms, plenty of starlight and good peeps. The place is definitely populous, perhaps 2000. The crowd is growing. Local FS dudes came through the site, they are mapping out the locations of all kitchens, shitters, and water system on GPS and making a map. Try to find it on the internet, or email them and get it, it would be some cherry info and make a great map. Keep in mind I think they are using this info to keep the gathering safe and healthy, not for some nefarious purpose (supposedly). The forest service folks are friendly and talkative locals. I met the water manager for the region. There are no troopers or LE types with them, none of that bad vibe past the roads in. Come home to the glades and gather! My first time and Luuuuuvvin it. Oh i almost forgot,, pics of the site someone posted see ya on the land brothers an sisters.. luv~N~lite safe journey home an all that good shit.. PEACE..
thanks for the info...have a good trip home......Maybe we'll run into you while we're up there. sodabandito. & hairybuckeye
Came back for a shower and an oil change.. hehehe heading back tomorrow or sunday. Everything he said is true.. only don't fear the pit bulls !! They're ok, really. I've seen some fights, but it wasn't pit bulls. A guy in our camp has one, it's sweet. I had one, she was sweet. All depends on their history really. But yes.. it's a beautiful site, everything is going well. Have had absolutely no trouble with any law enforcement at all !!! peace!!
