I have a new obsession called sarongarama! I have been buying all these cute sarongs left and right. Basically I'm just wondering if I am the only one with this fever.

OH!! You're not alone! I used to live in Hawaii and I collected quite a few while I was there. I still wear them all the time because they are so so so comfy and easy on easy off.

My husband always corrects me and says they're called lava lavas, not sarongs (he was born and raise in Hawaii). I call them padeos (sp?). I think sarong is the most common name.

I love 'em too, but I have the same problem...they tend to come untied and come off (so far, not in public!). Also, I can't always find them long enough...I have a mid-sized body, and larger hips, and the ones I've seen are made for thin women, and don't tie easily. I have one that fits just right, and I wear it fairly frequently.

Hmm.. I'm not sure what a sarong is. Is it like a wrap skirt people wear over bathing suits? Pictures, maybe?

I also tend to live in sarongs, or Chetengas (sp) as my first one was a gift from Africa, and that is what they are called there. I just buy two yards of fabric from a store, and, voila, there is a skirt...I have a tons of nice rayon sarongs I've gotten off of ebay. It's funny, either I wear VERY long, huge, flouncy, ruffly skirts and I feel so feminine, and I almost get the same feeling from a sarong...am I the only one? :)

I have tons of them leftover from our store. Seriously..like a box of 30 of them sitting right here under my sewing table. Anyone looking for a specific color or print? lol

Aside from the new ones, I have about 5 or 6 that I wear. We also use them as curtains and tableclothes. The kids also love them to use as capes, tents, anything. Sarongs are just wonderful!!! [IMG]

hell, who doesn't like sarongs? i love them to decorate with... and old scarves, too. Vintage shops and goodwill almost always have amazing scarves for... relatively okay prices. and if you don't like wearing sarongs or scarves and can find some amazing ones for relatively low prices, it's a pretty inexpensive way to pick up some really beautiful fabric... which is what i do with the scarves. not the sarongs. i still wear them... take them off of my walls and wrap 'em around my waist. voila! instant skirt.

Yep, there were guys wearing them all over at the last festivals I've gone to.

I can get large ones for $5.50 at a local store.

The best things to wear at the nudie camp. You can tie them at the waist for an exposed top. Tie them at the top of one shoulder for an exposed side view or tie them at the boobs to be flashing glimpses of the front of ya.[IMG]

I've considered wearing things like these, and I really have been wanting to make a kilt, but I just don't think I could cut it around here, unless I was hiking. MY hiking buddies (a few couples ranging from their 40s to their mid70s) think it's a cool idea, and have loved seeing the guys on the Appalachin Trail wearing them, but I just can't bring myself to wear one yet.....

I have a tendency to live in them during the summer....They're so damn great! Plus, they make great skirts, shirts, dresses, bags, blankets, shawls, and are quite toasty in winter if you tie it over your neck like a cape!

I think sarongs are one of the sexiest things a woman can where. My wife is having a hard time whereing themas a full outfit right now (can't get around the pregnant belly), but she still wheres it as a skirt.

Here is a pic of me about 8 mos pregnant with my last lil babe...and I was HUGE :) I tied it on as a top.

I feel for your wife :) As amazing as it is to be pregnant..those last few months are really uncomfortable..esp in the summertime!

And, yes, my husband wears them too! Yum!
