    Hey everybody
I just found this sight and its great, I'm Rachel. I have a question for you all, in high school, is there a lot of aggression towards hippies? This coming school year I will be a Freshman, I have been called a stoner, tree hugger....etc, but from what I hear hippies get harassed on a daily basis. Is there any truth to this, and if so what can I do?

I guess it depends on the high school. I'll be a senior this year and the entire time i've been in school i've recieved very little harrassment on being a hippy. some people are even happy about the whole thing. they think it's cool to have such positive values and belief systems. i hope this helped you.

Welcome to Hip Forums Painted Peace and WildRose.

At my school you would probaly have more to worry about being a freshman than a hippy. It doesn't matter to me anymore since I just graduated.

Thanks you guys. The whole high school thing is a bit off to me, the labeling and whatever else. There just is no need for it.

Yeah... that why I strayed from public schooling, but eh, a lot of the things that happened at the school I went to are merely a waste of time...

These people are bullies and the only reason they are doing so, is because they are insecure and have nothing better to do. It's pathetic really. Some, i think, secretly wish they were as free to express themselves but can't. So, in frustration, take it out on those of us that don't have a problem being who we are :)

yeah, i'm new here too, at my school being a hippy or a tree-hugger etc. isn't so bad, it's just the drugs that are automaticly asociated with being a hippy, so you tend to get asked "are you stoned?" alot, along with being called a stoner (though it is often true) some of my friends went through a stage of trying to hide me whenever cops were around. But these days most of my friends are also hippies so I guess that makes things better. One of the problems with high school is how easily lables stick, but people who know you will know if the lables are true or not and that's mostly all that matters.

lol, same, I smoke in the morning before school sometimes... but those are normally the times that i don't get asked if i'm stoned... kind of ironic, eh? apparently I seem to be higher sober or something like that.
