My younger brothers are going to a party and a camp thing and they have to go in hippy style clothes... Any suggestions on what I should get them to wear?
see if you can find some cheap dashikis for em. aromas unlimited might have some. i saw nice dashiki things for like 10$ each and the good ones are usually like 35$ each so it's a good deal on some fine looking hippie clothes p.s. when do hey have to have the shirts and stuf?
get some striped pants and shirts with wild prints on them like big flowers. Some round sun glasses, mabye some hemp necklaces.
make them patch work pants!! loose shirts, make em a hemp necklace... or two... with awesome glass blown beeds on it and give em a bandana to wear maybe or cary w/ them haha no shoes.... well maybe sandals depends on what they like or if they dont want sandals awesomely comfortable shoes... like skatebording shoes are comfy, its all about the comfortablity basically
I love my baja!! haha its green! i love it and it is sooo comfy. hey jypsymoth3 what kind of clothes do u were that u think it could be considered a costume? haha like those purple or green silky huge bell bottems? please dont tell me u wear them!!
For many this is a lifestyle. Not a costume party. Are they making fun of people who others refer to as "hippies?" Are these boys into love and resistance and peace and antiwar? If not, why dress in a costume? Can I get a Yuppie, work in an office, real estate lady or high school kid costume? What would a High School kid wear as a coutume? Never mind.
:sunglasse I wouldn't call the clothing "hippy clothing"......it was what was in fashion in the mid to late 60's....bell bottoms, apron dresses, love beads.....a good costume of the late 60's trend for him.......a Tshirt, worn out green army type jacket or denim jacket, well worn bell bottoms, sandals, get some love beads or something similar, get some leather strands and braid them into a thin headband for his head, unstyled hair, he will look authentic.
forest420-hey jypsymoth3 what kind of clothes do u were that u think it could be considered a costume? well i do have bell bottoms blue jean bell bottoms with the squar pockets, a lot of tye dyes. im a nature freak and tend to go with earth tone colors(greens browns yellows etc.) i got hemp and sandels. oh a good idea is to have theme pst-pone the party for about a year to give them a chance to grow out ther hair. well i guess i really don't have a proboblem with the whole theme party as long as they ain't doing it to make fun of hippies.
well malls are always preppies wanting to dress like hippies..... i went to my mall and it angered me that all of this fake hippie bohemian "fashion". it's there for rich corporate sons and daughters that don't understand the movement and just think it looks cool... they'll wear a peace sign and stand in the gap and talk about how excited they are that they get to go off to the army to fight....... it's disgusting and sickening............... baby, if you want themto look like hippies,,, and if it doesnt matter if it's not from the 60's, puyt them in shirts that are toned down or faded,,, vintage advertising tee's are also good. and old beige or khaki pants with holes and stains maybe a little wrinkly.... an old floppy comfortable hat, and hemp necklace and bracelet 1 each for each child( and pick up some for yourself too) besides that all you need is a pair of dollar store sandals...... if possible don't let them match with the clothimng, that or old loose button down shirts with "weird" designs and some darker earthy colors... make sure that the boysaren't swimming in the clothing.. remember hippies( real true hippies) wore what they could.... sometimes it didn't fit but they didn't look like they'd stolen it from a fat man( no offens to the overweight pple out there.)
