I am sick as a dog with the tummy flu, but singeling out the Catholics for this particular insult made me laugh out loud. As did the false idea that RC priests are the only clergy that prey on young children sexually. No, they are just liars and blasphemers and......have you READ your own posts? Heavens, am I speaking to a victim of self-delusion? I am not denying that some horrible things went on. but do you have a reference (not from some fanatical RC hating site) for this number? Never mind. Christians are supposed to be loving and forgiving and tolerant. But some have made Christianity into an INTOLERANT, divisive, hatred orienated group. People who beleive that only "their" type of Christianity is legit, and that everyone else in the world is wrong are the reason that Christians are hated by so many. Back to dealing with seculars, in most cases they are MORE tolerant than many who call themselves "Christians." NOW I remember why I rarely mention I am a Christian to so many. The misunderstanding that I would be an intolerant person like so many who use the label for themselves. *sigh* sad sad sad sad. Babe, this isn't what Christ was about.

i have prayed the rosary, and i found it useful for a while. it gave me things to meditate on. but after some time i felt like i was repeating myself and i didn't think it was real prayer.

No one stated that the Roman Catholic church was the only insitution involved in child molestation. However, the Catholic church has quite a dishonorable reputation in these regards. "You shall know them by their fruits" Galations 5:19 states that sinful nature desires that which is not of the Spirit. Among these desires is sexually immorality. 67-70% of the Catholic clergy is gratifying it's sinful nature. That should be one clue of the fallaciousness. If you would have read the post, you would have read that I stated the religion itself was built on lies and blashphemy. Cathecism, for example, makes many statements, contradictory to the Bible itself. Examples of this include baptism, The Holy Spirit, graven images, etc. Their literature states that which the word does not, thus, blinding it's followers both physically and spiritually.
No - that is just rhetoric. The pope isn't physically blind and nor are millions of catholics. To be physically blind means not having functional eyesight, not being able to see material objects.

Sadly, you are right Maggie - most of the threads on this particular forum degenerate fairly rapidly because of the narrow mindedness, intolerance, hate, and claims to posess exclusively the keys to the kingdom by many who say they are Christians. However -'forgive them for they know not what they do' - in other words a lot of this abuse comes of ignorance, and a total lack of any real spiritual consciousness. Some are just repeating what has been drilled into their heads from childhood, and others just seem to get a big kick from simply being abusive. A lot are just young and lack experience of life. Some though are simply fanatics. I too am put off attending any kind of church by just those types of attitudes. *peace*
Yes, after majoring in Psychology for the past two years, I am well aware of the difference, However, I have not made one, solitary statement in regards to homophobia in any post thus far within this thread. If you will notice, the forementioned sites spoke of child molestation. The topic of homosexuality was not the reason I directed you to them in the first place. Once again, I never ONCE stated that I hated any one individual. I stated that I have contempt for the institution (An established organization or foundation) of the Catholic church.....not the people. I am sorry if hatred for Catholics as individuals is the way you perceive my comments, but it is not what I am implying. "Forgive them for what they do not know" - funny that this verse is even mentioned, considering that what was, "drilled into my head", as a child was... for the hundreth time...Cathecism The statements of being narrow minded are quite amusing. No individual on God's green earth is open minded in every aspect. Anyone can be deemed narrow minded in the eyes of another, for lack of support for what the other believes in. To make a comment in relation to narrow mindedness based on the view points expressed on merely one topic, is rather futile and holds no validity whatsoever.
