I apologize for how long this is, but I hope you guys can read it and have some good input for me, I will really appreciate it.

Alright, so this past year at college I started smoking cigarettes fairly regularly towards the end of the year. I really don't like that though, I think it's a gross and negative(for the most part) habit, and it just doesn't have enough good benefits for the outcome.

But then I started it was fine. See, I found that when I was high, smoking a cig would REALLY kick in the high very nicely, so I really didn't even need as much pot, I could take a few hits and then smoke half a cigarette and be greatly blazed.

I also found that the day after being high, if I smoked a cigarette it would re-kick in the high buzz for a minute or two, which was a pretty nice way to get the day started.

Plus, getting drunk and having a cigarette was a great feeling too.

It wasn't so bad at first, but eventually I was having cigarettes all the time. Probably about 3 or 4 a day, which may not sound like a lot, but if you want to be a non-cigarette smoker that is way too much.

The worst thing about it was, that eventually the smoking of cigarettes hindered how I felt when I was high! I don't know if I just smoked weed too often, or smoked cigarettes so often that my body was used to it, but I found that it just ended up doing the reverse of what it used to.

For instance, when I got high and then had a cigarette, instead of getting me really baked it would either totally kill my buzz, or make me "snap back to reality," like I would still be high but it wouldn't be a really mind altering experience, it would just make me feel really fucked up and buzzed.

The problem was, I just couldn't resist having cigarettes when I was stoned. Maybe I was addicted or it just felt too desireable to have one when stoned, but I had a hard time not having cigarettes.

I am really hoping that when I go back to school this fall, that I can kick the cigarette habit and just stick with weed. But one of my roommates smokes cigarettes like a chimney so I really need help to not join him...

What do you guys think? Do you like to have cigarettes when you're high, or do they hinder it more than anything? Anyone have any similar stories/experiences, or any help for me on how to cut it out or find a way to make it enjoyable once more?

well, because you are somewhat of a non smoker, you were jsut discovering whats called a nicotine buzz. it happens to all new smokers. you smoekd enough to where you dont get it anymore. Ive beens moking cigs for 3 years and dont get nicotine buzzes anymore. After i get high i still like to smoke a cig because it kind of chills me out about so im not all fucked up when i go back inside. It really depends on your body how the cig affects you.

if you smoke menthol you could have been getting menthol highs, or something like that. ive been smoking for almost 3 years now and i used to smoke menthol and after smoking pot it would also give me the extended high.

its possible that your just used to smoking now and the nicotine doesnt do anything to your high now. but the whole, killing your buzz thing is weird. i cant help you there.

No, I don't smoke cigs, that is the TRUE devil's weed. Full of chemicals, and it gives you nothing worthwhile (lightheaded, sick stomach and tingly fingers is not very good in my book). I used to smoke a bit, got up to around 4 cigs a day, and said, damn, I'm slowly smoking more every day. I stopped, and even then I noticed some withdrawal, I really wanted a smoke.

But no, fuck that. And if it's actually killing your high? Why the fuck would you want to keep smoking? Quit that shit, do your wallet and your body a favor.

Im about 3 days from having maybe a half a pack a day and the only reason ive stopped is because i caught bronchitis... Ive had such a shitty time and this has been kind of a wake up call. Im hoping i can fight the withdrwel cuz i sure as hell dont urge a smokewith lungs like mine now. Coughing up phlegm and having constant headaches and chills isnt my cup[ of tea.

Yeah, after about 3 days most of the physical symptoms of withdrawal will be over, so after that, it's just your mind fucking you up.

Oh I know, it is completely stupid. But the problem lies with when I'm stoned, I just get a craving for a cig so bad, that I don't enjoy myself until I've had a cigarette, which then changes up my high, sometimes for the worst.

Doesn't that show how awful ciggs are? Wish I never would have gotten into them.

Anyway, I have been off it now for a while since I've been home for the summer, and hopefully that will be enough to help me quit for good. I don't want to continue this habit.

Well, it seems to me if you quit for good, the craving when you're stoned will stop, or lessen anyways. It's probably just a regular craving enhanced by the stoned-perception...plus the fact that you've sort of ritualized weed + tobacco. You have a mental association you need to break, as well as a nicotine addiction. Good luck bro!

yeh sucks. the reason i started mixing with tobacco was the buzz and the way it extended the amount of weed i had.
but now im losing that feeling from cigarettes, they make me lazy and slow instead of buzzed and fresh (haha fresh.. strange word to come from cigarette)

so im gonna try and cut down..

    when i get more weed

    ahaha

    im hopeless

yeah i only tend to take a couple drags of a cig if im in the mood and if i want to get that added buzz, but i'm smart about it and it is a rare occasion when i do smoke them, or cigars for that matter (but thats for puffing). I think its just a bad idea, you are already smoking weed, which isn't good for your lungs in the first place, so why add something else that isn't really 'needed'?

marijuana is used to break cigarette addictions

it lessens learnt-bahaviors. i think addictions count as so. maybe its not, maybe its worse when stoned? but i agree and think its because youve ritualised it with weed, your body expects it whenever you smoke.

man you are just thinking about it way to much. just dont meditate on it like you are doing now, its not good for your mind or body. if you really cant just let the thought go, meditate positively about it and maybe replace cigarettes with gobstoppers or soemthing.

as for me...i smoke a jack after every bowl pack, its just how it goes.

man i never get a buzz from cigarettes unless my first one of the day is at like 7pm. the only reason i smoke a cigarette after smoking a bowl is because i want to keep smoking.. and well, i'm a smoker so it makes sense. i know it's a bad habit but i really don't want to quit right now.

smoking cigarettes is the most retarded fucking thing you could possibly ever do.

i cant even take a hit off a bong now without coughing my ass off, because i smoke entirely too many cigarettes. But when you drive all god damn day, there really anything you can do once you start the habits. Like everytime you get in the car you light one up, even if you just had one 5 minutes ago.

The best thing to do is get some gum, or somethign to chew on, hard candy, or just go straight ot the nicotine gum or the patch.

i refuse to smoke a cig when I'm sober, they make me feel shitty. unfortunately, i'm rarely sober all day, so i go through a little more than a pack each week, or a pack in a day if I'm rolling.

but my desire for a cig is definetely stongest after smoking some bud, i'm so used to the follow-up cig that i can't get it out of my head once i think about it, plus being high puts my brain in a loop sometimes, making it pretty compulsive.
