well my dreads are about 4 months old, and they are around my shoulders, so they aren't very long and can't do very many crazy hairstyles, but my prom is tomororw, and so far all i can think of doing it putting themn up in a pony tail with some ribbons and a hair band, anyone have any nicer ideas, anything would be greatly appriciated... thanks
you could take some from the sides on each side (two or three) - so you have plenty still hanging down underneth and maybe two at the front and clip them back and then put some flowers in them or ribbbons, or anything really that you'd like! that'd be pretty! show us piccys with finsihed look what ever you decide!
I'd say leave them down. I'm sick of all the usual prom updos. Tie ribbons in your hair, and let them hang. Glitter (if that's your thing) is purty.. Clip or safety pin flowers in. I took seed beads (the teeny tiny ones) and sewed them into my dreads. I can post a picture of that if you want. Mine are almost shoulder length. I know the dilemma, the only thing I can do is pigtails.
from my prom i just wore my hair normal like, and throughout the evening tied all the bows from the chocolate into them...
all brilliant ideas!!! what about wool? buy coloured wools and wrap them tightly around your dreads.. not only will this help your dreads tighten but it looks really good too and its not perminant like dying is! tis maybe what i'm doing for my prom, that or just naturally down!
i agree with toolmaggot about updos being too cliche i would leave them down but put ribbons or something in them.
ya- yarn is the best thing to decorate your hair.. and when you take it out it all dreaded underneath.. cept if you dont do it even enough it gets a little lumpy...
here is what i did for my prom! you can't see but aswell as blue wool i have thin thread of gold wrapped around them. i also had a head scarf on during the beginning of the evening.. but after lots of dancing i got to hot to wear it so it came off...!
