You might have been born with it, if your mother had it. Sometimes HSV can remain dormant for years. Or, maybe you engaged in something other than intercourse?
oral sex is pretty easy to transfer oral sex with. Heck, if you have a cold sore and use saliva as a lubricant, you might even give yourself genital herpes (don't know what the chances of that are, but it could happen) if you're just referring to having cold sores on your mouth, not genital herpes, something as little as kissing can transfer it.
There are two types of HSV... Both can cause genital and oral herpes. ..HSV type 1 usually infects the lips, cold sores, fever blisters... HSV type 1 can infect the genital area and produce sores there... Type 2 is the usual cause of genital herpes, and can infect the mouth during oral... A person with genital herpes can pass the virus to an uninfected person during sexual relations... It is not spread through the air, it is spread through direct contact... You can get herpes from someone who does not know they're infected... HSV 1 mostly occurs above the waist and HSV 2 below... I get fever blisters myself... I slap on some CamphoPhenique and let it be...
