What did the OT that Jesus was refering to look like around his time? Did it look exactly the same as now? Was the OT even put together yet?
We (or at least I) sometimes think of the Bible as one big book written at one time, but actually the scriptures were written in different places and times. When did someone decide to put these scriptures into one big book and decide which scriptures were legit and would make the cut, and which scriptures were from madmen?

 

if i had to guess...id say that the OT/Torah was put together, probobly the same way it is in Hebrew for Synagouge use [in scrolls and such]...but i have absolutly no idea, so my post is useless

 

I think the old testament was written in some form, not as one complete book but yes.

 

The Council of Niccene 325CE. That's where it was decided what books would make up the present New testement.

At the time the christian church was devided on the issue of the divinity of Christ. The faction of the church that was asserting his divinity won out and books were chosen to follow that theme.
Sometime later the now established Catholic church ordered all other gospels and religious writings gathered and burned.

I don't know as much about the old testement but I think it's pretty verbatim to the Jewish Torah (anybody who knows more about this please feel free to tell me I'm wrong).

 

Yes, the OT is the exact same as it was more than a thousend years ago.
There's proof for that.

The OT was put together before Christ. Then there was a quiet era, and inspiration of God ended until the comming of Christ.

However, in this quiet era, scriptures were still being made, enter: The Apocrypha.

A collection of texts that were good for nothing except historical discriptions. No God, just ' journals' of the people back then, and their, not God's, oppinions.

The Torah was already seeled a long time before that ( the 5 books of Moses ).
The Tanakh ( Torah+Prophets ) ended with the Prophet Malachi.

The Bible is 66 books written by over 40 different authors on 3 different continents in 3 different languages over the space of 1400 years. Couldn't tell you how it was put together though.

The OT, back in the day, was a loose collection of scrolls. The original five, plus the Psalms, books we are familiar with and a few that no longer exist. Jesus, for example, went into the temple and read from the scroll of Isaiah. The Jews were a tradition-maintaining type of people. No council was formed to say which scroll would or would not be acceptable; they simply tried to hold together their national and religious identity as best they could. Even when major factions split away from the temple, the same scrolls were used.

Francisco is a troll. Says the same inflamatory things over and over again while rarely acknowledging what others say (gets along with campbell34 for the time being).

I recommend ignoring (or laughing at) his comments directed at you that do not address what you say, although if he does directly address what you say in a logical manner (not likely) you could have a constructive conversation with him.

of "christianity" and other systems of religion, he would establish
the "thou shalt not's" that would suit his purpose. that of
enslavement and service to a system. and so you have the
multiple choice of religious systems that call themselves
"christianity":-((((((

and on the other side of his "coin", you have the "i'm ok, your ok"
and "don't worry, be happy" ,,,etc,,, philosophical systems.

The Messiah testified of an "evil, wicked world" and indeed,
as john testified: "the WHOLE world is under the control of
the evil one".

if experience has not revealed such Truth to you, well "braindirtying"
to the utmost has it's hold on you.

yet, while there is breath(spirit) there is hope!

hope that there would be those who "see" their need of cleansing,
for they have opportunity to be cleansed, to be "washed whiter
than snow".......

all who have experienced such a cleansing, have "set their affections on
things above" and their hearts desire is as it was, and is, with The Messiah.

simply, above all else they desire, "Father not my will, But THY Will Be Done"!

such is "The Way to The Truth of The Life"!
