When you convert to vegetarianism, do you actually feel in better health? How about when you got to just Vegan? Or is that some PETA crap?

Personally, I felt a ton better when I went Vegan. I ended up being allergic to milk, and the mucus that was building up in my body from consuming dairy was causing a lot of health issues.

In general, however, I just feel better. Not so heavy after meals, no so many mood swings, way more at peace. I can't really describe it, but it's nice.

It all depends what you are eating. If you're mostly eating bread and not many veggies, nuts etc. then you won't feel much better than if you were eating meat. By trying new things and eating a variety of nutritious foods, you will definately feel better!

when i became a vegetarian i did not notice any changes, other than a feeling of clean consciousness and being appalled at how easy it was and that so many peope were still eating meat and supporting factory farms. when i first became vegan i did not notice anything, other than the clean conscious feeling of satisfaction, but i did it very gradually so that probably had something to do with it. now i feel very in tune with my body and very energetic and now im much more food sensitive and just much more aware, i.e eating raisin bran and having the intuition that high fructose corn syrup(which isnt too good for you) in the raisins without reading the ingredients which you find so often in a lot of foods today since the corn companies payed president bush a load of campaign money so they can continue to grow genetically modified and cell mutating food that has proven to be verrry unhealthy.

i dont doubt for a second some people feel new bursts of energy and start feeling much better after turning vegan and of course you cant believe everything you hear, even if PETA said it, it is still good to question it and they probably exaggerate what you will feel but then in a sense they create what they say will happen with a placebo effect with a lot of people probably. they are exaggerating it with good intent though, even though PETA is never 100% truthful, they still mean well. but im only 16 so my body was not too toxic and unhealthy to begin with, and like i said i did it gradually so i didnt notice anything too extreme. but ive most definatley become much more in tune with my body and being(which isnt exactly something PETA is a big advocate for, they arent into health, their into animal rights, i guess they forget people are animals too sometimes) and energetic and jus aware and clean-conscioused and enjoy it very much.

its just a very satisfying feeling to me, to know that i can eat very good tasting stuff thats very good for me, other living beings, the environment, and the world, and just knowing i can get by without the billions of dead tortured animals a ton of other people are claiming to be dependent on to survive, which is a buncha bullshit if you ask me.

i imagine it would be a satisfying feeling for anybody though, or anyone who cares anything about this world or has the tiniest bit of heart in them for something other than themselves. i think it can do wonders for anybody to transist into a vegan diet, just in your own personal growth and path. like, once you become concerned about one thing, it might trigger a chain of concerned feelings about everything sordove. your like oh well now that ive questioned this, what about this? and then your more clear-headed to ask questions and seek so much truth. like ive seen totally regular people turn on to so much environmental concern and form such beautiful dreams and just really drop out of the american dream basically that is so clueless for lack of a better word. and their just really really good vibed people who are really there for the most part, who you would think they are just like everybody else if you saw them on the street, totally normal people from the outside, not preachy vegans at all, though they said they went through that stage and its a totally natural thing at first, which makes sense to me. they sordove helped me understand how to work through that, because for a while i was really into pointing stuff out and i figured people would be interested for their own personal benefit, but people dont seem to be interested in anything but themselves and their not even that interested in that. and it really is hard to keep your mouth shut about something you will find if you get into it is really such an important thing, and its hard NOT to feel morally superior, and in a way, you are. but you have to cut that feeling back a lot and not let it take over, being morally superior means being moral with your fellow man as well, despite how twitty they are. and if your a vegan twit and believe me ive met some, well, youll generate some good karma and learn something from it hopefully, and if you pay close attention, im sure youll notice you recieve some kind of positive karma in some form or another. theres all sorts of vegans, just like theres all sorts of people, so dont just listen to one, except me, ha ha. you dont wanna get a bad impression about them all, especially when your just getting started and some people seem really quick to point out stuff that is in their favor and against veganism cuz i guess they hate change that much, or just dont understand how its such an easy simple change most of the time, and doesnt require an extreme amount of hard work at all. if your thinkin of goin vegetarian or vegan i would definatley say give it a try, and feel free to ask anybody here questions, there are no stupid questions, well some, but not when it comes to veganism : )

Yup, pretty much ditto that :)

There is a chance you might feel a bit crappy to start with, because your body is detoxing.
Just have to ride it out, shouldn't take too long, then you'll be fine and dandy.
Don't distictly remember feeling better or worse physically, ate pretty healthily anyway so it wasn't that big a shift.

I became veg at 13. it took me a couple years to get the nutrition angle. but long term I can say this:
I pay less for groceries. this makes me feel good.
I have variety. This makes me feel good.
My overall diet-related health is good.
Cleaning the kitchen is far less greasy than in my omni friends' homes. This makes me feel great.
if the veggies get gross, they go in the compost, therefore not wasted. that makes me feel good.
I discovered I really liked veggies prepared certain ways. I thought I disliked them. this feels good.
I cannot speak to personal energy levels as 13 was many many years ago, but I'm often mistaken for up to 10 years younger. that makes me feel good, too.
PETA may spew a bunch of crap, but well-being isn't part of the crap stream.
