I used to shop there occasionally, usually for cleaning supplies and school supplies, because I have a big house, full of kids, and need to save some money. But, when they put those screeching Closed Circuit TV sets all over the store, blasting adverts at you EVERYWHERE, I stopped going there. Saving a few bucks isn't worth a migraine. I also stopped shopping at Jewel for the same reason. They already have you IN the store, do they need to continue to FORCE advertisments at you? I called both stores and told them I was shopping somewhere else.
buddy up and go somewhere else with someone with a car... or use a bike trailer..or pay for a bus...or..?
one time i wore a potleaf shirt in walmart and the old lady that sits by the door didnt day goodbye to me. i hate walmart its like a bad trip seeing all the people that shop there.
Ha ha. The other night my dh Bear and I were laughing so hard. We saw a commercial for the Academy of Country Music awards or something, and I said, "Oooo, it would be a good night to go to Walmart, the place will be deserted." (kidding as we don't shop there anymore) and my 16 yr old said "And it will be even more empty if there's a big Nascar race that night." What a bunch 'a cut ups we are.
Walmart is a weird focking place, but a great place to place hide and go seek with a buncha friends, lmao~! I've recently found employment there in the photo lab. Yah work where they will hire you, bottom line, and the pay is actually a shit load better there than alotta places around this town and they at least don't expect you to work off of the clock, unlike my last place of employment I was at for 7 years. It's still like going into the belly of the beast every focking day I work. Whats sad is theres so much business in this area they are opening a second one at the other side of town since this one does twice as much as it was ever meant to do. I have always believed in supporting small businesses, privately owned places, but when it comes down to giving my money to one corporation over another corporation, fuck it!! So when it comes down to supporting Curcuit City or Giant foods (Martin's Grocery in this area and non-union in VA) I just don't see much difference. I try to buy from farmer's markets and such for certain things but a box of cereal from one corp. vs another corp....pffft!!
I Always Go To Wal Mart For What I Need. Dickies, Food Sometimes, Cheap Shirts, Boxers And Under Shirts. They Got It All. Theres Always Hos There To
Why not stop shopping there for the horrendous way they treat their employees (and their especially horrendous treatment of their female employees)? For encouraging, if not forcing, their empoyess to go "on the dole" to make up for the benefits THEY REFUSE TO PAY. Many states, and now the feds are taking up the issue. For once, I actually agree with the feds. Or, on a more global scale, how about not supporting their sweat-shop system they've set up in the "People's Republic" of China, with full support of the chinese government and the communist party there? When I first came to the US, Wal mart proudly said everything was made in the US. Now, nothing is.
Yeah, and you're not elitist or stereotypical in the least are you? I'd hate to hear what you say when the Vibe awards are on! I LOVE how white middle-class americans think it's fine to perpetuate "CERTAIN" stereotypes. What a buncha cut-ups! They SLAY me! Oh yeah, and weren't you just saying how YOU recently stopped shopping at sprawl mart? So, I guess you were a BIG fan of the country music awards and nascar?! Unfortunately, sprawl mart is the only place many can afford to shop because of their "questionable" manufacturing practices, and (in my opinion) ILLEGAL employment practices. But, laugh it up. IT'S REAL FUNNY, INNIT?!
I hate it, everything about it, the people there shopping, the people there working, the parking lot, the way it looks, what it does to small business, what it does to the US trade deficit, the old greeters, its got to be the most post modern and depressing store around. Luckily there is absolutely no reason to go there where I live.
You are so right. Years ago, before I knew all the crimes sprawl mart was guilty of, I stopped going there because it DEPRESSED me. Like a cattle chute would depress a bull. In that vein. Like McDonalds used to depress me before I stopped going there. It made my stomach turn. And that was before they moved all their suppliers to chinese sweatshops. Everything was presumably 100% American Made at that time. Good god they suck.
they're evil but they're cheap that is the argument..... which is the lesser of two evils, a few dollars more, slightly less evil....... that's just where we are as a nation....
Well said. I choose to pay the few dollars more with the added inconvenience of having to go to more shops to find the stuff I'm looking for, but some folks don't have that choice. Anyone who's on a tight budget is forced to shop at Wal Mart, that's how they do so well--where there's a demand, so shall there be a supply.
i can't stand it, not only for the obvious reasons that you've all covered but all the people that shop there tend to piss me off. also, if they keep on 'rolling back prices' you'd think that something would eventually be free! bastards!
the heir to walmart has died http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050628/ap_on_re_us/obit_john_walton
