Stop Prisoner Rape

I am as against child molesters as can be, but I feel that no one should be raped, for any reason. Sexual assault isn't something that people "deserve" our justice system is not supposed to be based on revenge. I HATE child molesters, but even they should not be subjected to torture.

True, rape in prison is no different than rape in general, though it is about all these things: dominance, power, humilation, and sex, sex being the least of the motives behind it in most cases.

My point is that it's absurd to allow inmates to administer "justice" to other inmates, regardless of the crime. If you say it's ok to allow rape for pedophiles in prison, you might as well say it's ok for an inmate to murder another inmate because that inmate murdered someone else, or it's ok for an inmate to rob another inmate who's in prison for robbery. It's barbaric, kinda like "eye for an eye", it may seem just on some levels, but it's not the way the system was intended to work. Prison is about denying criminals liberty and freedom, rehabilitation, and isolation from society to protect the rest of us from them, it's not about allowing prisoners to commit crimes against one another simply because they're there for committing crimes in the first place.

 

I know what you are saying and I understand and you are right in some way.. But I dont think you can change how anything is run in prison, I mean, look at the way prisons were run years and years ago, like Alcatraz..and that was 40 or so years ago...

 

I agree it's a lofty goal, but anything is possible, given time and public support. It's easy to dismiss the problem if you think "this doesn't apply to me, I'm not a prisoner", but these problems don't go away on their own, and you never know, you could be framed and convicted of sex offender crime.

Anybody check out that link? It's pretty cool and informative, and it provides resources for dealing with the problem. I'll donate some cash to this cause, it's probably tax deductable.

 

why should someone even be in prison if they don't deserve to be destroyed to a certain extent (be it psycological or otherwise)

I'm all in favour of making all nonviolent crimes fine-able offenses and having work camps for those who can't pay the fine (and paying a fair wage for the work that they do instead of 50 cents per hour as is now the case)

just put the violent offenders in prison, I'm all in favour of that, that'd also probably improve the way our justice system worked in general, if a teenager knew he'd be working in a quarry for 6 mos for stealing a nice car then I think he'd be a little less likely to do it, have a more boot camp setting about it for the non violents


make prison hell for the violent offenders, certain people should be dehumanized, for instance would you stand up for adolph hitlers rights if he were in a united states maximum security prison full of people who were related to holocaust survivors today?


I can't see that, there are people who have done horrific things and deserve to have the pound of flesh taken from them, hell let the victims family determine whether the person goes to prison or work camp......

 

Pedophilia MAY or MAY NOT be a mental illness. But not all child molesters are pedophiles. There is a BIG difference. And personally, I really couldn't care to differentiate between them. While the non-pedophile child molesters may DESERVE more rectal reconnaissance in prison, who am I to say? As long as neither sees the light of day as free individuals I couldn't POSSIBLY care less what happens to them.

 

So rape is a violent crime, but you cum at the end, huh? I know EVERYONE loves to say that rape is REALLY about this or that but... the perp cums at the end?... And by the way, I think the threat of possible anal shenanigans in prison is precisely what keeps many of us on the "straight and narrow" (or at least makes us much more careful)! As another poster said, other than the butt love, prison seems a pretty decent deal.

 

if they are in for petty crimes that doesnt involve to much hurt on others, then yes there should be a stop to prisner rape, but if they are in for raping any one woman, man, boy, girl if they are in for murder those sort of gross things then its a different matter. people like that dont deserve to be protected, i think they should be killed, but they dont they get 3 meals a day, a roof over their head. thats more than alot of people, i dont know how anyone can personally stick up for people like that and i dont know how anyone personally can rape someone or kill. i think with this forum it will be a popular one but you proberly wont get the response you are looking for.

 

Oh yes, i have an idea, why dont we just all sit on our fat arses in front of the tv and watch the world die. How can u HAVE that mentality???

As a society, we should not be standing in for God and administering some abstract "justice". We are a nation of laws, specific rules about our actions and the consiquenses of those actions. Creating those rules and enforsing them is what society does.

The rules apply to everyone. (Yeah, I know about the rich... ) Some of those rules are about rights that everyone has, even convicted criminals. It is important that we recognize that the rules are for everyone.

To put it another way, it is bad for society to treat anyone as less than human. Society is better than criminals, because it treats criminals better than they did their victims.

"They asked for it" is no justification for maltreatment. One; they didn't ask for it (unless they committed a crime, turned themselves in and then plead guilty). Two, them asking for it is an insufficant reason for me to mistreat (even by proxie) someone.
