Hmm, i'm reading a book at the moment that has really peaked my interest about this. It mentions at some point about how we can be children that never grow weary to the wonders of the world, or how we can be philosophers that refuse to ignore the amazement of the world we live on... Or we can simply accept everything as habit.

There is a quote that i can't remember exactly that says "to be a great philosopher, all we need is to always wonder" or something like that. I think that is pretty true, and really intriguing.

Hurrm, so what importance do you all see in philosophies. Do any of you have any particular, strong, unique philosophies about things yourself?

Eeep, this is the first new thread i've made in probably months!!

well my degree is in philosophy, and i do consider myself a philosopher, its such a diverse subject, that is appliable to everything! im an analytic philosopher, question everything, thats all i can say.

its definately an extreamly useful subject, and i think everyone should look more closely at it.
as for what is philosophy...who knows

ooo, can you tell me which type of philosophy or something it is when you look at things, and question why they are like that? i mean, i do it all the time, it's quite quite mad, i look for patterns and reasons in tonnes of silly little things

and lovely to see a post from you ducky :) i aggree, philosophy is inspirational, and i can't help admire people who are such deep thinkers, i won't name names, but i do admire many people on here for that.

it is crazy, but essential. almost anything can be looked at in a very deep level, and in this way new things can be discovered, and it can help us understand crazy things :)

I am doing Theology at College and its great, it realy makes you think hard about the world in a way which i dident before. I think it helps you to get to know yourself and what you think better. Great Subject.

*shush dandy i think yor out of your depth posting in this thread but you'll post anyway*

I think Philsophy is brilliant... I have only recently descovered what that word meant, only just descovered it as a subject although i think i have always wondered in a philisophical way. Questioning things...

I think it is highly valuable to be able to question things, to be able to not take things on face value to look for something more, to want to find out, go in search and understand or not. I love reading philisophical books that make you think so much deeper, make you question your own beliefs make you think more and ask more things.

Its having a fascination about life, about the world about people and how they see the world. Its about understanding, its about the unknown about the truth or the lack of real truth its aabout accepting you'll never really know the whole truth, bbut in a sense going in search of it regardless.

That's it. That is all you need.
Anything else is subjective opinion. Each to their own.
