I bought this handmade djembe for super cheap (for djembe standards) and when I bought it, I didn't notice when I was at the store, the buzzing sound it made.

The goatskin on top seems really loose, not to mention the fact that the metal ring is on the outside. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Any place I can take it where they might be able to fix it? I'm pretty sure the buzzing has to do with the looseness of the goatskin...but I couldn be wrong.

Yup, it's most likely to do with the skin being too loose. Go back to the store and ask if they could help you.:)

You're very pretty by the way! *Hugs*

There are a couple things you can do.

first about the ring showing. There should be two rings on the top, and one under the bell. The exposed one should be the one that is laced, with the second top on covered by the skin.

IF it is like that, there are two ways to tune it.

One is to pull a string under the one next to it, and continue weaving them together until you get it tight

OR the easier way, is to pull on a string as hard and you can to get all the slack into it. and continue doing that all the way around, one string to the next, then after you have gone all the way around (start at the handle strap for reference) figure out the best way to tie it off.

Tuning it up should fix it.

If that doesnt work, drive down here and I would give you all the time in the world on fixing this thing, cause i think im in love with you =) you're amazingly beautiful :)

Let me know if it works.

    lucky you.

They used to gather in my area years ago, when i was in high school. We used to go hang out, smoke with em, etc. You would always see them in town, at the store.

But the ignorance took over, and so local ignorant rednecks decided to kill a couple hippys, and they never came back.

    its tragic. =(

    have a good time.
