we've been all over the web looking for updates on the Gathering situation, and most of the news is disheartening Reality: The permit has been signed and approved for the Cranberry Grove site! Let's forget for a moment that the folks in Elkins were looking forward to playing 'townie host' for the Family. Let's even push aside the fact that the new site is in 'Neo-Nazi country'. What about all the folks who held their tickets proudly and said "Who needs a stinking Permit!!!!!!!!!!" Rumors: Kiddie Village bus is on the new site; sister X may be in jail on smoke charges(???) , there's a road that goes all the way to main circle, and the FS horses are dirtying up the water at the new site, not to mention the amount of trash left over from previous campers. Remember, these are rumors, take them as you will..........
"....and the FS horses are dirtying up the water at the new site" Why print such a rumor without any evidence to back it up? Anybody can say anything without substantiating it. This is what the gov't and press often does to us!!
It is a 'rumor' because the information came from someone who we do not personally know; but this person has been at the site and is providing info via another web space (AGR). This person said that the FS are letting their horses tromp through the water; and folks, we know them horses ain't diapered and they don't watch were they put their hooves.
i would think the origonal site to be the place to try n hold onto ...cuz once they have everybody moving theyre at great advantage realy put the finish to things ...but im not there and dont realy know .
Read on AGR that there are a lot of reasons that the original site should have been kept. Where is HHB when you need him? we don't know how to carry info from one site to another.
"This person said that the FS are letting their horses tromp through the water; and folks, we know them horses ain't diapered and they don't watch were they put their hooves." It seems foolish to drink water at gatherings (or near any campgrounds) from streams which cross trails horses or no horses. Springs back in the woods are usually the only safe source. We have very valid reasons to criticize the gov't and FS. We don't need to manufacture questionable ones.
So is the harrasment going to stop at the new site, or is the FS just putting us in a spot where they can get to us easier?
Absolutely. Having been a horse and dairy farmer for many years, and loving to go barefoot as I do, I can safely say that horse shit is organic. It won't hurt you. OF course you wouldn't want to drink the water from streams in the forest. Horses are in the minority. Think of all the deer, raccoons, possums, etc., etc. They all shit in or by the water. That's where leptospirosis comes from. I really think that most everybody should stop complaining so much about everything imaginable, and let those speak who actually have some real knowledge. Because you all are just creating a bummer for others who have no more real knowledge than you do.
well earth mother,, i see your still sittin at home,, cant be more than a few hour round trip for you,, why not go an look an come back an say what you saw?? im not goin into the "knowledge" part cause ya obviously think on a diffrent level of rainbow than i an the ones that you say are complaining.. quite frankly,,, nevermind.. luv n lite
believe me if there was a way, I would have been there already, but unless someone figures out how to clone, I can't spread any thinner or I'll dissappear. They need me here too...
it's hard to say but the scouts say that the FS has lied to them time and time again (like that surprises us ); maybe they'll just let the neo-nazis harrass the Family instead. As far as the water situation, hmmmm, been to many Gatherings and there is never enough bottled water in the stores to hydrate the whole of the Gathering and supply cooking needs, not to mention the fact that supply funds are not intended for bottled water. After running kitchens at no less than 10 Nationals, we can tell you this for sure Bad Water=sick hippies!!!!!!!!!!! As far as FS horses and the attitudes of their caregivers, the FS tried to put in a horse camp NEXT to SUPPLY, kind of like putting your pantry in the barn. we don't trust the FS (or more correctly, the LEO division) and it's their fault; we're not about to trust the LEOs when their 'management team' people have held guns at the heads of unarmed hippies after sexually harrassing Rainbow sisters (and that's no rumor, folks-been there, dealt with that) <editing note: the FS has many divisions-standard FS people are usually okay folks; the LEOs, well, they are the people with the guns.>
