i guess this probably go in the "my friend came out" thread, but anyway... there are some people in my school who i know are gay and im pretty sure they know i am too. however, ive never actually talked to them. i really would like to coz i think it would be good for both of us to know each other. u know what i mean? im in yr 12 and they're not much younger than me. anyways, how do u reckon would be a good way introduce myself? its times like these i wish there was a secret gay handshake, you know? lol anyone else have this issue?
Ideas: Figure out what their interests are and somehow weasle your way into one of their events, say going to a sports game and congratulating them after, maybe compliment them on a newspaper article or art piece, I dunno. Find out who their friends are, this is key - somehow or another you'll probably have a connection through one of your friends. Mention through that connection that you want to hang out. Maybe sit near them at lunch, quite by chance. Introduce yourself. Got a gay-straight alliance? I guess not, or this would be easier, but maybe ask them if they'd be interested in helping you form one...figure out what classes they take...all of this works. I've done it before. It's not so hard. Try to be around them, not stalk of course, ha, but be around - when the opportunity arises, have something good to say and put your best I'M QUEER I'M HERE face on. Not. But seriously, at least make reference to something. They'll get the message. And they'll be as eager to hang out with you as you are with them. Gay school organizations really are the best for this type of issue.
Girl right above me, you're really beautiful. And about meeting, well, just don't push it, don't try to make it happen. Or you choose to go and do it, or you just forget it, be normal, for god sake! lol...just kidding. Good Luck
Ha, thanks, but it's not me in the picture. It's the gorgeous-beyond-words Ani Difranco. I'm sure you've heard of her, a cult favorite singer/songwriter of the past 10 years. She is really, really beautiful. My eyes and hair resemble hers, but I have nowhere near the same olive skin or face structure. She has "the kind of beauty that moves."
