    Fuck no!

Chavs are into the commercial end of music, ie crunk (minimalist RnB/Hip hop), Gangster Rap and cheesy commercial Hard House, Techno and superficial House tunes. A lot of UK Garage is actually quite involved and skillfully constructed and it acknowledges its jazz roots via hip-hop as well as its roots in house and disco. The sophisticated rhythms in garage can only be found elswhere in jazz funk and the blend of synthesised sounds, scratches and samples and acoustic sounds is second to none and there is a lot of really innovative feels created by the melting pot known as UK Garage.

Can't really speak for Drum'n'Bass as I could never really get into it, but some of what I've heard is equally developed. That's the trouble with music, the commercial end of it which is really shit is all you ever hear unless you go and look for it and dig out the best of it, which is why every genre of music has a bad reputation among listeners of other genres.

I doubt it. I listened to all of those music styles in the past and my personality was (1998-2001) very similar to how it is now.

No, it just means you listen to music that was made without talent and probably need a taste transplant.

There is a lot of DnB artists out there who have more musical talent seeping out their bell end than you have in your whole body..

Do I assume from that statement that you know exactly what talents I possess or do I assume from that statement that you are just making assumptions about me?

Either way I would still say that nearly all modern dance, rave, dnb, rnb, house, hiphop and garage is unmusical talentless shite that can only be enjoyed when under the influence of mind altering chemicals.

However that is only my (less than) humble opinion so if you care to shoot me for it then you have the right to be wrong :)

    I hate the word Chav!

The word chav was first used by gypsies and travellers it was their word for outsiders.

I used to listen to a lot of jungle, happy hardcore, drum n bass years before I tried any mind altering chemicals:) I think it's a bit blinkered to make such a sweeping generalisation as "nearly all" of a certain type of music is "talentless shite". Just because you don't appreciate it doesn't mean there isn't plenty of talent that went into creating it. Also, a lot of what we hear is the watered down commercial end which often belies just how groundbreaking the underground origins of the music are.

It's only grey if you've got your screen resolution set incorrectly.

Oh and I listen to both types of music

I bought a 99p disposable camera today which has a burberry cover...does that make me a chav? :p

Anyway, chav is a crap word. Up north, we use proper words like 'scal', 'scallie', 'townie', 'kappa slapper', 'scutter' and many other northern words that there is no way to spell...they are more like sounds than words. Why everyone things that 'chav' is now the real word for such people is beyond me!
