Yeah I thought it was real at first. The excitement of that movie didn't last long, for me. Did you ever see the second Blair Witch movie...I thought it was awful
Blair witch was so lame.....the scariest thing was the SNOT running down that chics face. We laughed our ass off. No witch I know would put up with the crap from those dumb asses, and of course, the rule of three is always a consideration. Probably some demented toothless moutain neck just fucking with dumb city kids. Get real, you CAN'T think that is real! Blessed Be - "Kaltes" aka Sweeta
The movie story wise was kinda bad. But, the way it was presented, 3 people alone in a forest completly stranded was good, not to mention the way it was filmed. Simply 8mm/16mm, yet so effective. I thought it was very scary because at the time I was young and immature. Now it's pretty boring to me, though I still enjoy it because I'm very much into independant films. Also, I agree with the post about the second Blair Witch movie..horrible.
@ Duck: What kind of concept? The second Blair Witch movie sucked big time. I didn't get it at all and it wasn't scary! But the first one is a classic, drop the name and most of the people go like: that movie scared the shit out of me! I love it
Yes, shot on video and 16mm, this was the most interesting aspect of the film. When you boil it down it was just some people wandering around lost for 90 minutes added to a rather cheap "woo arent the woods scary" factor.
The concept was pretty original. The way it was shot and all. It was something different at the time atleast. The second one wasn't original at all..it was just a regular ol' cheesy horror movie. They couldn't do a sequel to the first one,and keep that theme going..because the public already knew beyond any doubt that it was a hoax. So,they made a regular movie and added the Blair Witch name to it,more than likely just to make the second one more popular.
I didnt I saw the program on the scifi channel before it went into theaters... Something just told me it wasn't cause it was in the sci-fi...
I thought it was lame... the only part that was spooky was the very very end with the one kid finding the other kid standing facing the corner. that gave me a bit of a "oooh, creepy" kind of feeling. other than that? bo-ring.
The first time I saw it I thought he was just doing a wee:& Someone had to explain the significance of him standing in the corner like that
i thought it was ok. there was so much hype though. it had a real scary quality because the actors were really scared sometimes. they just sortof shot it without knowing what was going on. (that is the way i understand the it's filming if i am wrong let me know) the second was lame but enough to scare me alone late at night.
i saw blair witch 2 in a hotel in france, i couldn't undserstand what the fuck was going on. it might not have even been blair witch 2. but all it seemed to me was people dancing round naked and dying
That's the same I heard . The actors were dropped in the middle of the woods without knowing where to go. And if you're being scared like that in the middle in the night the result is a nice movie
One thing you have to give this movie credit for, is being one of the few completly original horror/thriller movies in the last 10 years. Look at horror films now, they're nothing but loud ambient noises and flashy CGI.
Yeah it was an original and clever concept. I didn't like the film but it's refreshing when something new breaks the monotony.
The problem/great thing I had with it is that I hated the characters so much that I was happy to see them die! I also remember seeing it in the theater and having to stare at the wall to keep from throwing up from the shaky camera movement. and I can sum it up by picturing myself in the movie "goddammit those ghosts built another stick design outside my tent, now I'm scared, whats wrong ghosts, you forget how to jump out of the shadows and throw objects at me, you guys are getting a little too new age to be scary now"
