Drug use at gatherings?

Ok..so a few months back someone told me the rainbow family was "a bunch of people who go in the woods, sing,hang out, and get stoned"...and while I thought that sounded fun I didn't think it was accurate...and from what I have read I now know there is more to it than that...

my question is

what is the general consensus about drug use during the gatherings???​

...we were thinking about going (especially to something in Virginia, West virginia, NC, Tennesee..all those areas) but I want to know a few things first ya know? I want to make sure its somewhere we'll be comfortable

Thanks...I really think we would enjoy it...I really want to make some plans...I just wondered how they feel about people smoking pot...I mean I know the whole illegal thing but I just wanted to make sure before we made any plans

I think i completely misunderstood where this question was coming from.... Sorry.. (didn't see your tag line..) No, nobody will look down on your no matter *what* your lifestyle, trust me

 

awesome! that really makes me happy...I knew it would be a gathering of open minded people but I wasnt sure if that would be an issue for like legal reasons

I am gonna talk to some friends tonight about going....west virginia the first week of july right?

 

Just a reminder - these dramas with the feds always antecede the national gatherings, but we've never failed to prevail in 33 straight years. If you're especially nervous about being ticketed, don't go till July 1, when sheer numbers will make the point moot - though I hope the forest service's suggested alternative locations are sincerely offered and that one proves acceptable to the council (which means everybody that wants to take part, and all rulings are by 100% concensus, rather more like a republic (the U.S.) than a "tyranny of the majority" 51% democracy

 

clarification on thr drug question
first of all, please do not bring alcahol or any hard drugs. however pot & a couple other natural medicines are neither encouraged or discouragged,
however do not expect to be able to buy or sell anything at all there, everything is free or barter,
although some things may be acceptable, keep in mind that some may not want it waved in theyre faces so in some camps be respectful & ask 1st
1 other note, dont ne 1 of those idiots by the side of the trail begging to get high, it will never happen, people ther like to give, not be taken from, so just stop looking & it will find you

trust me sis, no matter who you are, what your in to, you will feel confortable there.

It is mainly because I just hate to see a newcomer get told wrong. I hate to see them told that marijuana is the only exceptable drug at a gathering. I am LMAO from your profit comment. How am I going to make a profit at a gathering. Nobody brings no damn money to the woods.

 

these have been accepted concensus from the beginning, leave alcahol at the parking lot/a camp, don't bring it on site.. hard drugs i/e poweders any "negative drugs" have always been strongly discouraged, no i'm noones boss, just passing on the concensus of the family as a whole.
do whatever you want, but don't be surprised when the most peaceful hippy gets agro with you for desecrating the church with poisions & negative vibes.

 

i wasnt implying only marijuana was avcceptable but i guess thats a definition of hard drugs issue, yes other substances are accepted, mainly psychodelic in nature, i just wouldnt want anyone thinking they could go there expecting to find coke or heroin or crazy hard drugs accepted & used widely.

Don't know why some people always say that shrooms are good because they are natural and that acid is bad because it is synthetical.
I mean whatever. OK god gave us shrooms but because we have created acid doesn't mean it is bad. It is just an update.

 

i wouldnt say anything is "encouraged" lol but neither shrooms or acid are discouraged, however i would always recommend respecting them, i have personaly seen people flip out who were indescriminantly given massive dosages & it was theyre 1st time trying it (shasta regional someone was passing areound crystal wash without any idea how strong it was)
i recommend treatting all substances as asacrament, to be used wih respect but not over used
& like i tried to explain in a previus post, the less you seek, the more you shall find.
sitting on the side of the trail with your tongue hanging out begging to get dosed rarely works, however picking up a shovel & digging a shitter most likely will get ya anything you desire.

You should give people that go bad a whole lot of love so they don't feel ashamed.
Tell them it happens to everybody.
Drugs can be beautifull but the people should be to.
Care for eachother in vulnerable times. Welcome everybody know mather hoe ugly he is. Make him feel home and he will have a great time with or without drugs.

the beauty of family is our capacity to love & willingness to share & give
magic happens when you give of yourself & you will receive the blessings you deserve.
as for the situation with accidental or purposeful overuse, if you see someone having a hard tme, even flipping out, be understanding & loving & try to help them.. i would nt recommend calling for sante sena for someone flipping out unless it was truly needed, rather i'd suggest finding a few loving souls & help bring the person to calm, where the healrers can help bring them back to sanity.
for you new people, this is a just in case you see this post, & shouldnt be veiewed as a "what to expect" post. just a guideline for how to deal with a situation if you come across it.
also don't assume it is what you think, sometimes people on meds for depression/schitsofrenia or whatever get to the gathering & just want to experience the energy there without the fuzziness of theyre medicationsso might stop taking them. so if you see anyone just acting too crazy (a relative term i know) have severa; brothers and sisters (both) walk them to calm where they'll get the love & help they need

 

Im am so glad to read all of that...I was hoping that was the basic idea...we have no intention of bringing coke but we didnt want it to be a problem if we brought some weed...and we wanted to try and barter for some shrooms (been trying to do that locally for a while actually with no luck)...so It is a HUGE load off of my mind...thanks

 

ahh well weed is certainly the best barter item there is with a big ol bag of weed a buch of snickers & a carton of smokes ya can get just about anything
