ARGFHGHG. WHY can't I load this? We had it, twice. My home page uses it, for lots of the main articles, and a lot of the kid's websites Sage likes to go to use it. I HAD IT, and it just won''t work now. I've tried uninstalling it and reloading it about 100 times. I turned off my Norton Antivirus, and tried rebooting after every uninstall and reinstall. Someone told me I also have to turn off my Firewall, but when I turn off Norton Antivirus, the Firewall stays on. I think....

I really want this feature. What can I do?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Under "Internet Settings" you need to ALLOW Active content. Especially, under the Winds XP Service Pack 2. If it won't install, and you had it before, working, I'd delete the regestry keys for Shockwave and or Flash. Then try again.

Oh, my. Please don't think I am an idiot, but I don't know where "Internet Settings" is located! I tried the "Tools" drop down, but that only had "Internet Options" and nothing that said "Allow Active Content."

Delete Registry keys? Is that the same as deinstalling the thing? I've done that about 40 times. (I do have Serv Pack 2, which I have heard is a PITA.)

Do I have to reboot after DEinstalling AND after INSTALLING as well? And how do I turn off Norton Firewall temporarily?

Thank you so much, in advance, Matt, my man. :D

Yes. "Internet Options" is a starting place. Click the "Advanced" Tab.

You have to ALLOW Active Content.

I did. *sigh* It won't work. I HAD it. I actually called Comcast, and the dude just had me run through what I did a million times, and it didn't load. I KNOW it is Comcast's fault, because half the people I know who have Comcast can't get MMF7 to run.

Their default answer for everything is "You must have some virus on your machine that is preventing you from running this application. You may have to format your hard drive." They just don't want to send someone out to redo the Comcast install.

I'm so frustrated, all the kid's sites run on Macromedia 7 and Sage is getting upset that she can't play games she could just a month ago.

There HAS to be a way to do it.

Have you tried installing directly from MacroMedia's website?

Thank you, Matt. I've done that. I am losing my mind. I had this damn thing, and I can't do it. I am so damn stubborn, that I am not going to give up. I just installed it again for the 200th time, and it still didn't work.

I need some kind of idea. Do you know how to turn off Norton Firewall? Someone told me that could stop the install, someone else from Comcast said it wouldn't. When I turn off Norton regular, the firewall stays on, then when I go to the Security Center on My Computer, the Firewall is still there.

    *sigh*

I really appreciate your help, though.

Thank you, raysun. But as I understand it, this software prevents MMF7 from running. I want it! It runs the kid's pages (I have four kids) and it also runs the videos and other things on my home page, (Comcast with the infamous "Fan" which I actually like to see.) I want to run MMFlash 7. Will this nirsoft stuff eliminate it completely? I am not really all that good with computers and I am confused.

I don't know if I installed sp2. (Embarrassed. :& ) I think I already had it. I do the updates as my system asks me to. MMF7 just seemed to disappear. Comcast tells me "some adware corrupted IE and you have to reformat your disc." But I think they just don't know and don't want to send someone out to fix it.

Again, I appreciate the help you both have given me. :D

Hi.... you could try to scan for adware/malware yourself with adaware and/or spybot with mmflash you have the abillity to turn flash on and of when you don't need it you could just uninstall it and keep your original settings.
Before scanning it is better if you update your definitions and after that disconect from the internet and then run the scan before I switched to another OS I had a similar problem and a friend of mine said I could try this approach.... I hope it helps.....:)
