well i think this author is simply brilliant.

emmett, the central character, lives a simple life and describes EVERYTHING, all the mundane details we usually tend to look over. its so simplistic but the prose is so poetic and beautiful, every little action or happening is articulated in such a unique way. even the way he describes making coffee in the morning is beautiful somehow.

i could never describe the mundane with such skill and uniqueness. it gives you this sense of appreciating the smallest things.

besides the actualy prose of the book, i think what its trying to get through is emmett's facination with life. he desperatly wants to hold onto it, feel like he's living......and that makes him question his own existance. i loved how diffrently he thought and saw the world.

    read this book.

My brother read the book, and raves about it, I'm very interested in reading it but I've got quite a few books to get through first... it's on my list though!
