Yes, I go other places on the net besides hipforums and I talk about all kinds of stuff. This is probably the most interesting topic of the day. I've heard about people bleaching their skins but I never thought much of it. (I figured if people wanted to pour bleach on their skins that they were kind of nutty.) I've since learned that people use soap or a pill to get the job done. Look at this: http://www.skinfitnessmanila.com/facial_soaps.htm I still can't believe that people use stuff to make themselves lighter. (I did see some nice acne soap though.) My questions for today are, do you know anyone that uses soap to lighten their skin? Did you even know there was stuff like this? Would you use soap if it made your skin darker in a natural way without damaging it?
_I don't know anyone that wants to lighten their skin, & I wouldn't either light it or darken it, even if it was safe to do so. I would assume that people feel that the color of skin they were wishing for was beautiful; just like a different hair color or contact lenses.
I kind of laugh because I still pretty much think everything is natural. I notice fake boobs and hair that's not really that person't hair. People wear fake eye color, hair color, nails and now skin.I never imagined that you could change your skin color like that. Now nothing has to be your except cash lol.
I do know people who chemically lighten their skin. There are still certain cultures, the Philippines for example, that place high value on light skin. Sometimes light skinned women are even offered money and station to have a man's children because their skin is so light. It's a messed up world!
Well, I guess it's no worse than using tanning lotion. Though I don't see why being pale is such a wanted feature. Maybe that's because I'm so pale. I certainly wouldn't put chemicals on my skin to darken it, but there's that whole sun burn thing that's a pain in the ass. Though I suppose if you change your skin artificially, it probably wont make you any more or less susceptible to sun burn. Another example of the grass being greener on the other side.
I wanted to lighten my skin - I'm into Goth (values pale Celt like people) and am of Jewish ancestry - though distant I still have a bit of a sallow complexion as a result.
I have a feeling in the future there will be new wave of skin diseases from something like that. Anyway, its kind of funny that every day it becomes better to have dark skin due to ozone depletion and people are spending money to make themselves lighter
I guess people do darken their skin, with tanning and fake tanning oils and stuff. Personally, I don't though. If I slather anything on my skin it is either lotion or SPF 45. I really don't do too much to change my appearance. I don't tan, wear much makeup, shave my legs, I don't even get my hair cut but maybe 3 times a year. Sometimes I highlight it, and I used to dye it red and highlight it which was cute, but all that stuff is just too much effort to keep up with. Maybe I am just lazy, but I am content with what I got naturally =P
It's really not better to become darker. I heard that dark skin people have a higher rish of skin cancer than light skin ones. I forgot why but it has something to do with how they absorbe it. It's best to use sunblock but get enough sun to aquire your daily vitamins.
