I moved to Florida from a small village in Arizona, and now live in a small place here.
Problem is that all the women I meet here are stoned alcholics. The last couple I've tried to get to know couldn't start their day unless there was booze in the cup,and drank all day till time to pass out. Then next day couldn't remember what was said. Sure dosn't seem like much of a life to me,and I had to go on my merry way, once again alone.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not against drinking and like my rum. On a hot afternoon I down a few cold brews, but I don't like to get too far from my senses. I sail a boat, kayak, snorkle, and other things that could become too dangerous if I got too fucked up.
It would be nice to find someone who understands what moderation is.
    Know what I mean?????

its really hard for some people to stay sober once they start drinking. I would drink myself silly every night if I didnt practice some self dicipline. becasue If I dont get a drink for a few days. I litterally crave it.

when quit my job to go back to school I had to quit drinking to pay for my car insurace and schooling fees, food etc. it was a lot harder than I would like too admit. For a while alcohol became the most frequent thought in my head, not girls. and well thats just not right. but damn, I tell you, after 8 months of alcohol abstinace, that 1st beer went down sooooooooo gooood.

i honestly may be an alcy myslef, three years ago I was up to at laest a 6 pack a day, and was spending over $500 a month on alchol. Maby thats why it was so hard to quit. I only spend $50 month on alcohol now , and its mostly on expesive premium beers. ($10-13 a 6 pack etc). and I make a batch of home brew every 3 months.

The only addiction I've ever had (besides cigs), was opium. That was when I was overseas and when I got back there wasn't any good stuff here, so I gave it up.
As far as booze goes, it's just too easy for some folka to get out of control.

i realised one day last month (on my 34th birthday) that, unless i had had the flu or something like that, i had been drinking every day for 14 years. not drinking to the point of passing out or anything....but god i could really be a shithead sometimes when i was drinking. so i decided to quit. cold turkey. it had been the hardest thing EVER when i'd tried to quit a few times before. this time it was just TIME. it has been much, much easier than i'd imagined it would be. i can truly say i will never drink again and i'm really happy about that.

my grandfather was an alcoholic (and died due to his alcoholism), and i think my mom is too. i had to break the cycle. good luck to those who quit!!

    cheers

    Hey great!
I believe that moderation as the answer in MOST cases, unless there is an addiction problem... then just don't go there. That pertains to anything.

I waet the the bar Friday nite and the X was there , so I decided to be a gentleman and say hi to her. She got shitty in less than 3 sentences. I said that I wasn't gonna listen to this bullshit and turned to leave ... she sucker punched me in the back of the neck. It was all Icould do to not knock her over the rail, but I walked away.

I'm filing a police report today so it will be on record. Its a small town and hard to not see someone at times. She has been 86ed from the bar.

After a relationship is ended there is a time we go thru the heartache thing and after that the songs return to our heart. I have my songs back and I wish for her to have her's. I just want my life to be peaceful.

You just can't make an addict moderate, they are gonna do what they want.

We don't have the pressures that people have in cities. Now I'm in Florida (small village) but have lots of fun things to do.

The whole secret is to be happy with yourself and the things you do. It's not SO important where you live, just that you are happy.

Yes, I most certainly do understand the meaning of moderation. Blacking out, feeling sick, or anything else beyond moderation certainly isn't fun and behaviors can be embarrassing after the fact. There comes a time where one has to make a decision or have it made for them by suffering the consequences of their actions which ARE inevitable. I have known many a friends who have died or suffered severe mental/physical illnesses from their addictions & even more horrible when young childrens lives and everybody elses is affected by the addicts choices. Some just don't/can't see what they are doing to those around them & it is indeed so sad, as it doesn't have to be that way. Pray for those people, as they aren't "bad people" just "sick people"....alcoholism isn't a weakness, it is an illness.

yea....most of my friends don't know nothing about moderation either...i like to smoke my weed now, but just enuf to get a little buzz and do my thing, but when i get with them all they wanna do is smoke til they cant move, so i had to quit hanging with them so much, now i smoke alone :( hehe, but it seems like i get more done now than i did when i was ahnging out with them all the time....and pill's...my god they will go thru 15 pills a day, i don't really care for them that much, but i like to munch a few when i drink, they actually geeked out 1 nite and got pissed at me for eating one instead of snorting it with them one nite at the bar when they didnt have anymore....fuck that, i just quit hanging out with them after that incident, i dont have no problems and sure as hell don't want one, but to each his own i guess.....
