I want to make a dress - something simple - a circle skirt with a tank-top-style top. I know how to do the skirts fine, but I'm having the hardest time making the top and sewing it together and especially sewing the back. I have ample cleavage and a small waist, so the tapering is really hard to do - and again, the back is just impossible for me. I don't know how to read patterns or anything... Is there any advice yall can give me? Or any great sites to show me how to do this stuff - easily? I tried googling some terms, but couldn't find anything useful. Thanks
a tank top....hmmmm. Well do you have a tank top that already fits you well? you could copy the pattern from that. Or, I found a sight that tells you how to make your own pattern: vrya.net/ts/clothes.php . Its the second tanktop. Also, since you have a small waist, you could try using contour darts to taper it. Here's another page: http://www.denverfabrics.com/pages/sewinginfo/simplicity-sewing-hints/sewing-darts.htm . Look at the very bottom picture. Or, if that doesn't help at all, go to the library and find some fitting books. they usually have a lot.
the first link explained it perfectly - thank you very much! I will try this tomorrow and hopefully I will have a gorgeous finished product to post
