I'm selling my camera. Once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase yourself a digital SLR before I whack it up on ebay in a couple of days. Camera body only (if you don't know what that means, may as well stop reading now!), £300 to you hippies. Cost around £600 new. Sale due to upgrade. Boxed, all accesories, mint condition etc etc etc. Good pictures not guaranteed - gotta take those for yourself Canon EOS 300D specs and review.
That's a "how long is a piece of string" question. It's compatible with all Canon EF lenses. If you want a Canon lense, you're looking at anything from £70 upwards - but it's a case of spending as much as you want. Personally, if I was buying a new lense, I wouldn't want to spend less than around £150, but for your first lense, you could probably get away with around £100. Or the other option would be look on ebay! This lense would be a good buy at the cheaper end of the scale. Or this lense would be a bargain for £50. But yeah.... as much or as little as you want to spend. Realistically, you'd need to shell out at least £50 if you don't already have a compatible lense, and as far as the upper price scale goes... the sky's your limit.
Heya Doc i'm interested however... I've not heared great feedback about the cannon digital series full stop. Are the SLR's any better than the average digital (i know that the obvious answer is "WELL YESS FLEASSY... ITS AN SLR!!" but im looking for more how you think it stands up) Jaycee currently has a Nikon Digital SLR and its like a little angel in your hands...i love it... and i'm dieing to get one for myself. also how good have you found the range of lenses for cannon. I know that Pantex and Nikon both have a cery good range of lenses but i dont know much about the Cannon ones..... Any help?? Cheers (sorry for all the questions)
Dunno where you're getting your info from fleassy, but it's flat-out wrong. The Canon digital SLRs are considered class-leaders. Google yourself any review you like of the 300D and you'll find it's the hands-down winner in its price category. There's simply no competition. Is it as good as the 10D or another comparable SLR? Nope... but then you're not paying £1000 for it, so you don't expect a pro-level SLR. There's nothing to rival it for anywhere near the same price. Look at it this way... a half-decent compact digi-cam's gonna set you back £300, and here's a digital SLR for the same price. Find me a better option for your money. If you want something better, you'd best start saving hard, coz it's gonna cost. With lenses, it all comes down to price. All I can say is I'm extremely happy with the Canon lense I bought. I also use three Sigma lenses that give me a nice range for all my shooting needs. Basically, I'm perfectly happy with this camera. The only reason I'm selling it is to upgrade to the next model - which is essentially the same camera with a few added features. It's given me nothing but pleasure since I've owned it, and if I had to buy it all over again, I wouldn't hesitate. Unless I had a lot more monet to spend
hmmm ok. well i currently have £300 in my bank... however i also have a holiday to canada in 2 weeks.... so im doing a lot of thinking.
I'm not in a mad rush to put it on ebay, so I'll hang fire for now. Let me know either way when you make your mind up.
I'd advise you to find a camera shop with a 300D in stock and ask for a demo. The only disadvantages that I see with it when compared to other SLRs are slow power-on time, limited buffering for burst shooting, and a lack of metering options (although spot-metering has always done me just fine). But again, you gets what you pays for, and there's nothing else in that price range.
