What does it feel like to have a seizure? I mean, are you just moving without control, or do you pass out, or does your mind go somewhere? What happens to your consciousness? How do you know you're having one?

I ask this because I think I may have have a mild one a couple weeks ago. The nerves in my legs felt really weird and I couldn't move at my own will. I don't know if I was kicking them or not. I could distantly hear my dad calling me, but I couldn't respond to him. I wasn't in pain, though. I always assumed seizure were painful.

I'm just worried because this has happened a couple times before, and I know seizures can cause brain damage. I just want to know if this is it or if it is something totally unrelated.

If you really think you may have had a seizure, you should consult your doctor, who might refer you to a neurologist. An internet forum is ok for getting other peoples opinions, but something as potentially serious as seizures really needs to be evaluated by a professional.

Seizures are not painful, and usually people remember nothing about them afterward. The brain kind of "erases" whatever happened, because it is having a violent electrical storm.

Like PhotoGra1 said, if you think you are having seizures, please see a doctor. They can be quite dangerous, imagine if you had one while you were driving. Some people even stop breathing (usually this is only for a short period of time) but it is serious.

    Please see a doctor, sweetie!

i was about to post on here about this..i had my 2nd seizure last night, right after i got out of the shower! it's like things are completely normal, like i was just sitting on my computer, then the next thing i know, i'm in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. i don't remember anything, and everything is still kinda blurry and you're kinda like "what the hell is going on" when you wake up..luckily i didn't have a bad one, but my pulse did get up to 170 when i was in the hospital...and i have no idea what caused it..my neurologist is a prick, so he won't give me a straight up answer of what exactly could have caused it..so if yall have any ideas waht the reason might be, i would love to hear them! thanks so much! and, also, i think there's a name for waht's going on with you, femenist hippy..i can't think of the name of it..but it's a small one, and i'ts like you're still concious, but it's like the world kinda just stops for an instant..like a moment in time is just gone and you don't know what you did or what happened in those last few moments! i used to have those quite often before the 2 major ones i had, so get that checked out please!! peace everyone!

I think you are describing a petit mal seizure.

MANY different things can cause a seizure. If you have only had two, I suspect your neurologist doesn't know what is causing them. If you honestly feel like he is a prick. . . I would consult another doctor.

i had two seizures, both ocoured after hitting my head really hard and knocking myself out. coincidenty both injuries ocoured in a snowboard park before i started wearing a helmit.

anyways, I came too during one of them, and its just the weirdest sensation, Im not even sure how to describe it. It was like my whole body was vibrating, and I couldnt moove or do anything or respond to anyone. but i could tell what was going on around me.
