Okay so like, in Washington I think it is, they've made these groovy water powered cars, but fucking Bush wont give them money to actaully produce the cars, which is stupid, because they're be so much better for the environment, and they'd be so much cheeper. There's more water in the worlds than oil, why the hell wouldn't he just like convert the gas stations into water stations? Blehhhh that man makes me sick.
at least you spelled the word fucking right. These"water powered" cars sound like hydrogen powered cars which put off water as a by product. The hydrogen is produced with natural gas which of course Bush is pushing.Bush/gas,go figure.Anyways the problem with hydrogen is that it takes energy to produce it which is generally produced using fossil fuel, putting us back at square one.
...*i'm not very "knowledgable (sp?) on this subject, if the water is the by product, would you be able to recycle it? i agree bush is an IDIOT
Bush and Kerry are both losers. Otherwise they would aspire to something above the squabble of politics. The difficulty with hydrogen cars is the infrastructure. Nobody wants to put money into hydrogen stations until there are a lot of hydrogen cars, while nobody wants to produce a lot of vehicles with no stations..
...*the election was so pathetic, they didn't even talk about any real issues like oil etc..all they did was poke at each other : childish steph
Why can't we get a leader like... Thomas Jefferson, or, John Addams, or even Abraham Lincoln? The last 5 decades have been pretty pathetic... But, that doesn't mean some haven't done things; Nixon, for example, recognized China after everybody else turned their backs on the country...
The president isn't primarily responsible for setting research incentives, and the reason this isn't getting funded by the thousands of institutions looking for energy research, is because it won't ever be effective. Furthermore, there will never be a water powered car. Water is in the 'discharged state' of two volatile gasses, hydrogen and oxygen. To extract any energy from these gasses, you'd need to use electrolysis, which is essentially using your car's battery to split water into those two gasses, the energy needed to do this on a small scale would be very large, much more then you'd get out of your car. For a large enough battery to handle that, cars would need to be built much bigger and be much less fuel efficient. Not only that, but you don't have fuel after you've split water apart either, Hydrogen by itself is a very poor carrier of energy, and no research is being put into making a hydrogen powered car. What are being looked into are 'batteries' called PEM cells which use liquid hydrogen and a catalyst to create energy. This is already lucrative in large applications, but it's much harder to make it energy efficient when shrinking it down to the size of a car. Fuel cells are decades off, and the water cars you've heard about are just science fair projects... they will never be effecient enough to be better for the enviornment then gas is now, and it would cost unbelivable amounts of money for very innefecient and large automobile. http://www.physics.ubc.ca/~outreach/phys420/p420_03/shane/title.htm But I agree, Bush is a dick face. :H
Uh, sure. Basically to get any 'fuel' from water, you need to split it apart. When it's split apart, it requires a lot of energy, then you have to hydrogen from a gas into a liquid, which requires even more energy. You can't do that inside your car without a lot of energy, from a really big battery, which you'd have to recharge. That would make your car use up more energy from a power plant, energy from power plants is usually produced by natural gas or coal, in which case your still using up fossil fuels. So its better to do all this on a large scale, have it done somewhere else. You wouldn't want to put crude oil in your car... it wouldn't work, and you couldn't refine it inside your car without using a lot more energy then it would be worth. It's the same thing. Water cars won't work because they use much more energy then they put out. Hydrogen fuel cells are more complicated, but basically, they put hydrogen into a battery. There have been a lot of success with this, but its still not as good as a combustion engine yet... they don't go very far, and hydrogen is still to expensive. Basically, it's going to be a while. :H
Republicans and democrats are not likely to make much of a difference in society. At least not the changes we desperately need.
this post deserves a BOO YA. you need to realize that Bush just cant start handing over money to something as unstable as "water cars". stuff liek this is what makes me despise bush-haterz. they say things that make them look like they know nothing about the actual politics of a situation.
Because as soon as most of them get past the first tirade..they have nothing left. This is meant to be provocative by the way.. so don't take offence you whinging left wing wannabees
