Women and Sex

I have a friend who got drunk and had drunken sex with a drunk guy in the street while people walked by. It was quite the talk of the town and everyone said "what a slut, that girl has no self respect," not a word was said about the guy.

Why do people say that girls who sleep around have no respect for themselves, and guys who sleep around have no respect for women?

 

I don't know, and why do people say that its good the more girls a guy sleeps with, but its bad the more guys a girl sleeps with.

 

Because that's how biology works. Women are programmed to find the best possible partner, and keep hold of him. Men are programmed to shag as many women as they can. Of course many men resist this programming to settle down with someone they love, and many women resist it to sleep around. But the basic biological imperative is still there, and it's the cause of the social prejudice you talk of.

I.e. for a man to shag anything that moves is just him giving in to his urges. Not exactly noble, but understandible, especially if drunk. Whereas for a woman to do that is atypical, and therefore indicates a looseness of morals which isn't demonstrated by a man doing the same thing.

 

And wemon get more time fore premeditated crimes, your right.

 

Honestly, it all has to do with the rise of Christianity. The whole basis of Christianity (at least in its origins) was that a woman was put on earth by God to serve men, raise children, and not much else. Whereas the earlier religions worshipped women and praised sexuality, Christianity eliminated the idea of the Goddess and taught that a woman's only roles were mother and wife. If a woman had premarital sex, or even enjoyed sex for pleasure, she was going against God's plans and could be punished. Sex for procreation only was important to men too, but they were able to get away with more because of the assumption that men were superior to women. This thinking still dominates in a lot of places today, on a more covert level.

Yeah, but those urges are based on the biological imperative to have children and bring them up, not the simple urge to procreate with anyone who'll let him!

 

Yes I have urges to have children, however, that does not dismiss the fact that sometimes I see a guy and say "boy, would I just love to give him a night to remember"...yes I do this...and if that makes me a slut...well then...Let me say I'm proud to be a liberated slut

 

Yeah, but that urge to have sex for fun derives from the basic biological urge.

I think we have to distinguish two different types of 'urge' here. One type, the type you talk about, is an intellectualized urge - i.e. your conscious mind thinks "oh, i'd like to do x because y". What underlies these conscious desires is a real urge - a basic biological imperative that tells you brain what to think.

So, when you have an 'urge' to shag some bloke, your brain is receiving a signal from some deep, dark sub-conscious part of itself telling you that he'd make a good father for your children. Your brain then turns this into some kind of rationalization that allows you to obey it without just going "UG UG! ME SHAG NOW!" ;P.

When I look at a man, I don't think...man, he'd be a great father to my children...no way, no how.

Just like men don't look at women's breasts and say, "Those would feed my children really well."

 

That was the whole point of my post... No-one *thinks* that - that's what the conscious mind is for; to sugar-coat biological necessity with 'rational' thinking.

 

Urges are different for everyone. it may b 'natural' 4 a woman 2 want 2 hav kids but that doesn't mean others can just want sex. Some men want a family. Nothings normal about what a person wants, it's what they want and that's it. It shouldn't and 2 some doesn't matter what others think. The stupid double standard and mind set we are born in2, just traps us and it's unfair but we're stuck until every1 can get their heads out of the sand. And for your friend tell her to ignore them, it may b hard but those people are being drones and it really doesn't matter what they think. (Yes the easy way out, ignore it and it will go away, but it's not going 2 go away soon, so don't let it bog you down. Just scream...FU!)

Well, unless you're talking about towards Brad Pitt, I don't get it.

Women complain all the time about how gross hair is, how gross men's builds are, how gross "it" is - there's not a man alive who thinks the female areas look vile.

I think the problem is for men it's a biologically imperative end whereas for women it's a means to an end. Even in the animal kingdom the male must bribe the female with food, shelter etc.

I think the biggest thing people are upset about is the fact that she didn't "get" anything out of it. Just like Wal-Mart coming in and undercutting everyone else and putting em out of business.

 

I must agree with you on this. I've talked about it myself on threads here and there. It's inbred. You might not consciously be aware of what's going on, that your body is saying "hey, let's procreate", because you might not even think you desire children, but your body says something else. The biological clock ticks...

When we were trying to get dates with you when we were 12-14, you sniffed at us and said "too immature" or whatever, while going after the 20something guys with access to alcohol and a car.

Then the clock ticks, whoops I'm 34-35 and no man, no kids, and now I want a man to settle down with and pay the bills while I play mommy and buy those pretty maternity clothes with the glow and the adorable little munchkin in this catalog full of clothes.. but the men are like "nah, I'd prefer someone without cellulite and whose breasts are unaffected by gravity."

Payback sucks, huh.

The above post is a nasty overexaggeration (so calm down with the "yeah, I'm not like that" posts) to make a cruel societal point.

 

WHERE the fuck are you meeting your womyn? I know FEW womyn like this at all. Most of the females I know have good relationships with their partners (and their partners with them) respect their men, and have exibit NONE of the stereotypes, preconceptions you have been spouting lately.

Maybe get out of the bars and meet some real womyn, hmmmmm?
