well, there are annoying free programs like Kazaa, or you could pay 9.95 US dollars per month and join Napster, which I would recommend...you can either pay 1 USD per download, or download or stream all that you want while you are paying the 9.95 per month.

There is a 7 day free trial if you want to try it out.

Don't get the normal Kazaa though... it has too much spyware and such.
Look up Kazaa Lite Resurrection.
Soulseek works very well too. Personally, I prefer soulseek, but it takes a little while to get used to.

DC++ is better, but Soulseek is much easier to use (I think Soulseek is also easier than Kazaa, and certainly better). So I would suggest Soulseek, even though I'm using DC++ myself, but couldn't set it up right without guidance.
