I saw this post and figured I should pass it on... *********************************** Like a miniature war zone, EZ Board since May 31 of this year has been a sea of conflicting reports, claims and threats of legal action. The official EZ Board line is that a hacker has created a DOS (denial of service) attack that has effectively ended the operations of 9,000 online communities. Many of those communities remain completely destroyed. Communities EZ Board was providing services to include charities, support groups, commercial entities and thousands of fan and hobby sites with hundreds to thousands of participants each. There is far too much controversy for a coherent version of verified facts to emerge to date. What is known is that a substantial number of EZ Board customers are extremely angry, not only with the alleged hacker but also with the customer service offered by EZ Board. Main issues include the apparent lack of adequate online security and the vexed issues of whether EZ Board maintained adequate backups to repair their site after a DOS attack and whether EZ Board is being truthful in its statements since. Significant differences of opinion are emerging amongst EZ Board users - and EZ Board staff. It sucks when you realize how much potential the internet has, then you realize also how insecure and unstable it can be. Unfortunately, this is one act that makes Hackers look very negative, and something I think many would disaprove of
Oh hell, there's places in the USA where if you cut ONE cable Internet's out to entire parts of the country until it's fixed.
I sometimes wish those hackers would search and destroy all the porno sites on the net and be usful for once.
I agree...porn's okay, but not kiddy porn. About EzBoards...I hadn't heard of any problems with it. Except,I used to visit a music board there and recently,it was moved. You can't even join it now, unless you request membership first. I didn't know why it had changed, but maybe it has something to do with this stuff.
That sucks...were you able to get back together with your gaming clan? I often wonder,if people on forums completely lose touch if something happens to the forums they use.
I havent been a member for a couple of years but I was still active on the forums. The ones I was really friends with I have on MSN anyway so I thankfully havent lost contact
I think we should bring back the Puritan tradition of throwing people in public "stocks" for overwhelmingly destructive hacking of non-government websites, spamming, spyware, and adware... That or they should be caught, arrested, hung up by their toes, and everyone who was effected by their malicious bullshit should get three swings with a wooden stick with a rusty nail at the end. That way we can get the "candy" out easier... that or we'll all get our frustration out and probably scare the shit out of these lil' fuckers worldwide! I'm not serious... well, maybe....
