I was just flicking through my mothers 'teenage life' collection of LP's and cant help but notice " Dude, i like the same stuff! " Its weird, and decided to include you guys! Do you like the same music as your parents?!
hell no...... my dad wouldn't know good music if it came up and hit him with a crowbar, my mom is significantly more redeemable but she likes christian music that was only published because it was christian and not for any musical quality.....
i got my mother into bob dylan, johnny cash, oasis, and the beatles, but other than that we have pretty much no similarities.
im slowly introducing my dad to rock he hasnt got the whole idea yet but he's getting there, its hell when you want to listen to a Cd "turn that crap of you mosher" even tho he likes Kasabian
my mother and i have similar taste. We both dig the beatles/stones, all that. We also like some music of today, the shins, spoon. But she listens to a bunch of crap that is played on the radio, like matchbox 20...but i would say i could listen to about 70% of her music. its my sister im worried about...she likes todays country, the worst music ever
ive stolen a few good record from my mom... [cat stevens, and i hear she has a bunch of the monkees albums (yes im a monkees fan ) ] and my dad has some awesome stuff...[ringo solo albums, wings over america, nitty gritty dirt band, the star wars suondtrack ]
music is my life, i love to sing. my mom had good music, Steppenwolf, Rolling stones, Jefferson Airplane, but my favorite is Tom Petty.
Ahhh my mum doesn't know anything about music. I respect my stepdads taste, even though i'm not totally into all the dance and rave. My dad likes all the old songs Jimmi Hendrix and others. But I've kinda been the one to introduce music into the family really, my brother goes along with his little crowd of friends and has no idea.
Well my mom likes french variety songs like jacques brel so i guess she'll never like my music because she finds pink floyd annoying , john lennon , the beatles and the other stuff i listen to annoying. My dad is an huge fan of genesis and the police but he likes almost everything i listen to . We both like 70's music except he does not likes led zeppelin ... So i guess we get along pretty well for that .
my mum likes john lennon, bob dylan and genesis but doesnt listen to them so much now. (i stole her records) and my dad likes pink floyd, grateful dead, the who, country joe and the fish, but the same with him.
My mom hates what I listen to, whenever I'm in the cr with her I always have a jam band playing, and she's just obsesses with "where are the lyrics" she says she cant take it anymroea nd has to turn it off. Its really a load of b/s she doesnt understand the poit of music. Its music if the focus was on the lyrics it would be called 'words'. But my dad on the other hand, he's totaly into it. Me and him can listen to whatever and never have to fight about it.
I like a lot of the same music as my Dad, which often suprises him. All the good old classics; the Beatles, Queen. Oh and lately we've got into swing (e.g Frank Sinatra) Hmm can live with Mum's music, but am not crazy about it. She's into Il Divo, Westlife and other lame mainstream cosy 'Mum music'. Now my brother's music, Jesus he's like a forty year old trapped in a teenage body. He actually said (all seriousness) that he thinks Shakin Stevens is cool. WTF can you do with that! I'm re educating him though, just need to play something a few times then he learns to like it, maybe even listen to it (on the sly). Managed to get him into the Clash. So maybe there is hope.
As far as mainstream stuff goes, yes. (Mainstream meaning classic rock/folk/blues things) I listen to a lot of stuff that many people don't really listen to otherwise. World music and of course a long line of experimental jam bands, jazz/fusion, blues, and things. I also like a lot of folkies and songwriters that are more for lyrical content than the music and strip everything down to its acoustic properties.
My mom used to listen to cool stuff. Now she likes maintream hip hop stuff. And joss stone. My dad still listens to good stuff.(classic rock) Ive been expanding my music listening lately everything but mainstream and country. Yip yip.
me and my dad like almost the exact same music. we always have. i was brought up on the doors, hendrix, the beatles, etc. thanks to him i like having the same taste in music as my dad cuz then he takes me to all the concerts.
