Also The Illuminati Papers, Robert Anton Wilson. Actually, it's a collection of papers, most 1-2 pages, but it's definitely a trip.
cormac mccarthy 'blood meridian'. about a kid who falls in with a band of cowboys that get paid to slaughter indians. but that description only just scratches the surface, really. some wild philosophising about life and death out in the middle of nowhere. then they all start to kill each other.
i dont know but ive heard that chuck palaniuks new boor "hauted" is supposed to be good--and about 50 people fainted while reading it.....
could someone please tell me the name of the person who wrote "johnny got his gun". i'd love to read it.
Ian McEwan's The Cement Garden really messed about with my morals and values. For those who have not read it yet i won't spoil the plot but the theme of incest gave me a strange reaction as i was pleased they had each other to love due to the lack of intimacy and love withing their messed up lives.
1984 is definaitly th best book i have read. The books i've read by stephen king always mess with me especially The Shining, which always makes me worry im going insane, and his Dark Tower Series, which is just plain bizzare
oblivion, "johnny got his gun" was written by dalton trumbo. excellent book. the song "one" by metallica was based on this book. and the video contains clips from the movie version. although they give it a chilling factor that isn't found in the book.
fountains of nay, i absolutely agree, before reading jeff noon i despised science fiction, but vurt and automated alice are now 2 of my fav books, and they r very thought provoking
