"If we desire to insult, we must be able to repel it; if we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our rising prosperity, it must be known, that we are at all times ready for War." --George Washington
thats a good quote.... here is another..by pericles(well really thucydides...) "esteeming courage to be freedom and freedom to be happiness, do not weigh too nicely the perils of war"
History tends to repeat itself. A lot of the things we fight over and concern ourselves with now are similar to things that people fought over and concerned themselves with hundreds of years ago. Human nature never changes, even though our technology does.
You guys are making a mistake responding to lunacy, because at any minute lickherish is gonna go support with a conspiracy theory.
Grievous, could your posts be any more useless? Anyway, I agree with Max. Wisdom doesn't age. Just because these men lived long ago (some very long ago) does not mean that their words are irrelevant today.
.....absolutely nothin! but those are very good quotes what does it matter if they arent alive now i challenge you to find someone who is alive today that has said something as good as the people of the past
it would be one thing if the quote was about strategies or war or how to run an economy, when its obviously changed a million times since 410 bc..but concepts of courage, freedom certainly existed and were thought of in the time of the greeks and especially by the time george washington came around.
war is not a fight between the men in the field. its a fight between two or more leaders. the soldiers are puppets. if they were to stop fighting and think for a m inute. wat r they truly fighting for? on both sides. wat is good? wat is evil? when will it all make scence. where is the love. i want to see another conspiracy theory. they are funny.
