Hello all I was meditating last night and all of a sudden about 30 mins in I experienced a sudden jolt - Like sometimes when you are going to sleep. Why is this? I was really "in the zone" when it happened so it annoyed me a bit and I had to stop. Anyone else experienced that?
It hasn't happend to me during meditation but it does happen to me all the time when I'm falling asleep. I think it has to do with your muscles relaxing but please don't quote me on that.
Yes, muscles relax typically in a linear fashion, a little bit at a time. When there are binds in your energy field, it can release in a sudden start. More frequent relaxation and asana can ensure that your prana is flowing smoothly through your channels.
Thanks - it kinda put me off a bit but I need to stick at it I guess. My anxiety and panic attacks are non existant since I've started to meditate etc
i think its slipping into deep meditation...get this right...theres an ultimate level of awareness...you're deeply aware...unconciously concious...but not aslepp..its a fine line/place/relam/space... meditators...hold their thumb and finger together to measure if they nearly slip into 'sleep' as they reach that thin viel place...its about getting more concioussness in your unconciousness..as you go deeper..its ntrual that your body thinks its bedtime..and ''switches off' the idea is to stay on...as you go in...when you'd noramlly be asleep ....your still aware !! so it sounds like your trianing yourself well!
Usually when you feel this sort of jolt ( or even vibration ) you're body is about to fall asleep. Many of us experience this moments before we fall asleep, and sometime as we are waking up. This is actually directly related to Astral Projection ( shifting conciousness from your mind to your astral self ) When meditating, you may feel vibrations all through your body and a slightly dissorienting feeling. This happens moments before your astral body actually detaches from your physical. I usually use meditation as a platform to astral project. Also, like I said, many times when we are dreaming we feel a violent jolt and then we wake up suddenly. This happens when your astral body, wherever it may be while we are dreaming, immediately gets pulled back to our body and our conciousness again shifts back to the physical. This is a very natural experience and I would not worry about it, in fact, go with the vibrations and odd feelings ( as hard as it can be ) and you will find yourself in a whole different world of experiences A great reference for this sort of information can be found here: www.astralvoyage.com
I experienced that sudden jolt only once during meditation... ...it was the LAST TIME my cat EVER decided to jump on my head again. Blessed be.
