The Flue

    Hey everyone
    i was just wondering if anyone here could recomend a method to cure the common flue, plus soothe an achey throat?
    my body aches all over, im exhuasted, my throat burns like you wouldnt believe, i cant breath through my nose, and i haven't had much of an appetite for about 2 days!
    im looking for a natural way to help me feel better

    Get some rest--and drink lots of fluids...hot tea and a hot shower and what not might help to break up your congestion and let you breathe threw your nose. Try some tea with lemon and honey for your throat. I've found that when I'm really stuffy, some pepermint tea really works great. :D Hope you start to feel better soon!

    drink a lot, get plenty of vitamin C, stay in bed. don't worry about the appetite, your body needs the enery on fighting, rather then on devouring foods or giving signals. but you can eat some soup or bread, things like that. and get rest, sleep a lot.

    to get a fever down, wrap a layer cold wet towels and then dry ones around the lower parts of your legs. and keep warm! especially on your neck. It's good to sweat.

    Boil a small pot of water. Maybe add a few drops of essential oils (eucalyptus or peppermint) drape a towel over your head and breathe in the steam.

    Gargle with warm salt water for your sore throat. My mom used to make this onion tea (yuck) but it helped. Cut up an onion. Boil it until the liquid is, well, oniony. Put some honey or sugar in it and choke it down. (I know you wont!) But it does help. Drink lots of OJ. No dairy. Broth is good.
    Try to sleep.

    Sleep is good anytime in my book :p...good idea about the pot. That probably works better than a shower.

    im feelin a wee bit better, been drinkin lots-o-tea, sleepin...constanly!

    i will deffinately try the pot steam thing, sounds relaxing

    What kind of tea? Green is good beacuse it's high in anti-oxidants.
