I don't know if this fits here...or elsewhere, but if not, I'm sure it will be moved. Anyway, I'm disgusted with the community around me, and the police as well. I don't know if this goes for everywhere in the state, or what...but apparently now if you call someone in for driving badly [speeding, failing to use your turn signals, etc] you get $50.00 for it. Like a reward, I guess. Anyway, this is horrible...you know how some people are just so driven to do anything for a quick buck... Well, let me tell you a story of a woman who has nothing better to do than make 50 bucks off of being a narc: So, my brother was driving around to different stores yesterday to find some DVDs he wanted, and afterwards he was going to visit his childhood friend who's in jail [my brother is 29 in case anybody asks] So when my mom saw him next, she asked how his friend was doing, and he responded "I didn't go, I just wanted to get the fuck home"....she asked him why, and here's what he said: okay, so all of a sudden a police man pulls him over out of the blue. And, as the cop explains it, apparently a woman called in saying that my brother was "driving over the line, and suspected he was 'drunk'"... My brother is the biggest advocate for MADD, let me tell you... He's EXTREMELY against people driving even after a SIP of booze. So, the police gave him about 5 breathalizers and each came up zero, of course. They made him walk the line, say his ABCs, etc... And finally they just let him go, because there was no way in hell even had a drop of alcohol in his body.... My mother asked him "Did you drink anything, even a sip?" And he answered, "No...I had a fucking glass of kool-aid before I left" I just think it's bullshit that people will actually sit there and nit-pick at people and the way that they drive just to make a quick 50. Mind you, his car is manual, so he may have swurved a bit changing gears. Whatever it was, I think it's bullshit. And, I think it's horrible that the police will reward someone for calling a person in... So, what if a person calls in and says, "so and so a license plate number was speeding".... would you get a ticket for it? I mean, the police would have no proof [not where I live anyway, there are no cameras that monitor that stuff] and they would just be going off of someone's word, who could very well be just looking to make some money. I'm disgusted.
Gotta love snitch society. But hey, if they don't need proof, I say you just start calling in on people you don't like at school or work. haha, no, I'm kidding, I'm against this. Unless you're totally broke and need fast cash...no, dammit! It's wrong on principle. Well, I'm gonna go out back and finish arguing with myself...
That must have been some rock bottom, scummy, cheap-ass dirt weed if two ounces of it only cost you $50.
Reminds me of that sketch that Benny Hill did: Wonder Gran, that little granny who would go out and bust people. The little old guy, Jackie Wright, had a walkie talkie and kept on finking on people to Wonder Gran who would come over and start kicking them repeatedly. Yesterday's comedy is today's reality. .
well if she suspected he was drunk, it was probably smartest to call him in.. rather be safe than sorry when it comes to drunk drivers.
Tha sounds like it should be illegal to me, Apples...I guess it isn't if it is happening in your area. Like you said, how would someone prove that they did or did not have the turn signal on, etc. I would be paranoid as hell driving around there...I'm a paranoid driver anyway.
Ya, I've called people in who were obviously too wasted to operate a large moving hunk of metal. Dif is I've been a bouncer at a bar and an emt. Every time I've asked em' if they need a ride. They act all belligerant and stuff and drive off, and yeah, I'll call the cops on em'. Sounds like a couple of overzealous little dicks though in the case A&O is talking about. I never got any loot though to buy a crappy bag of weed.
