So i was walking through town earlier in the week when a girl stops me and makes me fill in a survey which has a competition.. now i get phoned up and told i have won this competition and ive won a makeover for me and a friend...the advertising company is face to face...then he said can we have your debit card details for a deposit? sounds a bit dodgy to me or am i the only one? im not sure i just want to give my details out over the phone to someone who's just phoned up... he said he'd call back in 20 minutes when isaid id phone the company supposedly giving the makeover.. only their number is engaged, so i try and look up this advertising company and their website is currently being updated... what should i do?!?! wouldnt mind a day treat out...but like my debit card to...
So you won something...but you have to pay for it? Sounds a bit flaky Although if it is legit, take me I could do with a makeover

Give them your details when you get there.. after you have seen what the place is like.. I don't think you have a lot to worry about ..it is just a marketing tool . Look in 'The oldest tricks in the book' and it will be in there.
Why do they need you details for a deposit?... deposit for what?... either this is free as a result of winning the competition or you are simply being tricked into paying for a make-over... Sounds like a scam to me... tell em to fuck off... you're too gorgeous to be made-over... ask for their details and offer to do a make-over for them... Fly...
It probably is dodgy. But only insofar as they'll give you the makeover then try and push their products and services on you. I doubt you've won anything, they probably do this to everyone who fills in their survey. Having done street fundraising, however, I know how all the different debit card systems work and what they use the different numbers for. Which numbers are they asking you for? If it's the long number across the front and the 3 digit security number across the back, then it's extremely dodgy, and this is how people take money out of your account, which you see when you buy online. But if they're asking for your sort code and account number, they can never ever use that to take money out of your account, unless you've signed for a standing order and given your signature and details. Those numbers can only ever be used to put money into your account, and so giving them away isn't going to be dodgy....
It wasnt dodgy, turns out some of my friends have done this before.. you spend the day being made over...and then they take some photos and try to make you buy them.. but to be honest i cant be bothered...too much effort for my liking.. thanks for your advice guys
